A set of unknown brake pads.

Yes I know, probably a waste of time for all of us. But I hate to throw them away. They are new in a box. They were made by HOMER,but he may have moved onto other things these days. There is no part number on the box but on the back of the pads it says: JURID-402 ZTL36, 2002700. 8-82.

The box also warns of the dangers of asbestos, not sure what the fuss is about.

Bid me on them if you think you know what they are for,or you think you really want them to take up valuable space in your garage. +p&p.

Are they for a car?

A British car?

From the 1970's?

Er maybe........

I just googled the part number only to be directed to my own thread here. They must be the only set in existence and for that reason I may have to ask millions for them.

/\

I just have, they're going to email back at some point and tell me what they're off, hopefully.

Was HOMER a brand name of theirs? The box is marked up as that but I got the intro from the pads themselves.

Reminds me of when,as a 17 year old I discovered that some Marina pads from a scrappie fitted my Mk2 Cortina, just half as deep, Well, it was Sunday afternoon in deepest Mid- Wales. No excuse for leaving them in there for the next 3 months though.

Just Googled the part number also...

Seems that they don't actually exist so definitely worth a lot of money on eBay! You are sitting on a gold mine there!

They're for a Land Rover, reg D701SWL. Sadly I don't think anybody ever bought that car for their mum or anything.

Photos please, then there's a good chance they can be positively identified. Most chod of the period used the same parts.

I will get my people talk to Sotherbys in the morning.

Would these pads be suitable for track use? I could file them down to fit or just repeatedly bash them into the calipers with a large 12oz hammer as the car balances perilously on that rusty Scissor Jack I bought at a car boot sale some time ago. Might cross drill the discs as well. Badly. After this i'll replace (most) of the brake fluid with some Halfords 'Racing' stuff, but if theres not enought left after i've spilt it down the wing, i'll use that metal canister of Duckhams brake fluid thats been in the shed since my grandfather left it there in 1998. After ive pissed around with all this for a morning I expect I'll ring an ambulance or something or warn VOSA of my plans.

Bren was right. Make them fit or else you will anger the Gods of Autoshite

Will they fit a drum braked Mini if I bend then round a bit?

They are made of asbestos so you can heat them up and then bend them. I just remembered that I was supposed to take pics wasn't i. Back in a jiffy.

From memory they could be Jag XJ6 S1 pads. Something about the 3 sections rings a bell and 100mm is quite big for old fashioned pads,

I thought they were quite big as well.

They look very much like Scimitar ones, fits lots of 70's stuff too (inc jag) I've just had a measure and recon the back plate of the mintex / girling version is 98mm x 65mm with approx 10mm of pad depth,  The friction lining is 92mm at the widest point and 50mm at the narrowest.

If yours are the same and cheap I'm interested.
