Knobvan is now part of beige folklore, and FOAD achieved hero status getting this van back on the road

That estate looks utterly awesome. I hope my 405 gti* will look as well poised.

I ordered a pair of drivers side calipers for both the van and estate after finding a seller giving them away at the bargain price of £25 each, just need to source the passenger side now.

I'm waiting on an order of new brake flexis too which is lucky because I noticed that they have started to crack/perish.

I need to wait on an assistant to help bleed the brakes.

These original but very scabby wheels came with the van, they tyres on them were ancient and didn't hold air so thought I'd have a go at sorting them.

I used a wire wheel to grind off all of the rust where the tyre sits on the rim.

Then painted the areas I had ground, another couple of coats and new valves should see them holding air.

Success!

After bleeding the brakes starting at the rear and working my way to the front, the brakes are feeling much better and no longer binding.

Don't know if I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs but those calipers look a lot like base model 106/saxo fronts.

They are exactly the same as 106, Saxo, and 205 calipers with solid discs. The calipers I bought were a fraction of the price of the ones I found listed for the 305. They were listed as 205 calipers.

Tyres fitted, let's see if they hold air...

Some might be wondering what the fucking point is but I need some wheels that are the correct offset that won't rub on the inner arches to fit onto the spare car to make it roll as the 206 wheels currently fitted make it scrub meaning I can't push it.

Top brake caliper tips. The flexis on my beige automatic are also destroyed.

I could have sworn I left four wheels in the bed for you. Did I not? I can probably find another if you get stuck. I bought two sets from Depression Rubber (Ludlow) because the two front rims on my estate were bent.

As far as I can remember it never had a spare.

Very nice indeed. Not looked at them in quite a while after the last one I saw for sale down here went for astronomical money.

Looked rougher than that one at a glance too.

FOAD in an ALDI, before they became the choice of the cock

My brother had a couple of these way back when I rated them HIGHLY as a really nice car to drive as well as being pretty solid old things.  They were the only ones I've ever seen in person, you literally never see the 80 (were these also 90 and 100 in this body shape?).

Still about half an hour from home, it drives really well, cable operated clutch is quite stiff but other than that it's been good. b498df3541af17d9b0bc546689344e52.jpg

I think that's the majority of the welding done for the mot, there's a few small bits that could be doing with welding including the passenger front door and drives A-pillar.

Best Audi i.e. an Audi from a time when they were rare and exclusive and seen by some as the less quirky German version of Saab. I approve!
