Dick Cheeseburger Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Love the Chevette. Thought you'd been smoking strange things when you mentioned buying a mkiv Golf, but quickly realised it's but a mere taxi to collect the VX.
DodgyBastard Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 What a shitter! Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk MorrisItalSLX, Joey spud, loserone and 35 others 38
DodgyBastard Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 how's it go?It drives very well, great fun on the twisty Highland roads. It's frilly around the edges and there's loads of horrendous welding especially on the floor where the carpet is missing and I can see the road through it... The seller was happy to knock £100 off the asking price and keep the golf. Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk Dirk Diggler, GrumpiusMaximus, Burnside and 10 others 13
The Moog Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Well bought.... Looking forward to the videos of fixing the floor! LightBulbFun 1
HMC Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Great pic, time warp thing that is, how I remember them in the early 90s.
somewhatfoolish Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I can't remember the last time I saw a Shovit on the road.
MorrisItalSLX Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Has Cavcraft turned up on your door step yet? You really have a gift when it comes to finding these total heaps highly desirable motor cars.

paulscavalier Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Brilliant video. I don’t know where you find these cars but your getting a great collection
DodgyBastard Posted April 6, 2019 Author Posted April 6, 2019 As soon as I got back home yesterday we set about removing bits from this. Not bad at all. I also stuck the 244 on Car and classic on Wednesday and sold it yesterday to the first person who came to look at it. Amishtat, Dirk Diggler, DeeJay and 10 others 13
adw1977 Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 That Chevette is an ES - the absolute bottom of the range, for those who couldn't afford a Chevette E! The only Chevette to have black bumpers instead of chrome. Angrydicky, Burnside, JeeExEll and 7 others 10

Although it does have the optional extra heater rear screen but I can't figure out which button switches it on...
greengartside Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I bloody love the Chevette. Just amazing. Top purchasing!

adw1977 Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Poverty spec! Although it does have the optional extra heater rear screen but I can't figure out which button switches it on...No heated rear window fitted, but rear screen replaced with one from a higher spec car?
Noel Tidybeard Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 do you pull the heater fan switch out like loads of GM shizzle adw1977 1
JeeExEll Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I think your steering wheel may be from a Triumph Spitfire.
DodgyBastard Posted April 6, 2019 Author Posted April 6, 2019 No heated rear window fitted, but rear screen replaced with one from a higher spec car? It was an option from the brochure you posted along with radial tyres and silver metallic paint. egg 1
BavarianRetro Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Slightly surprised you sold the 244. Only slightly.
DodgyBastard Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 Slightly surprised you sold the 244. Only slightly.Me too. After the initial excitement of getting I discovered that I don't like driving it all that much and much prefer my scabby w123.I've spotted a local e28 for sale that I'm thinking about now...I think volvos in general just leave me uninspired, whether it be the older rwd cars or the newer fwd ones I usually discover quite quickly that I don't enjoy driving them.Maybe the 244 was just too nice and too much of a special edition. DeeJay Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 I've spotted a local e28 for sale that I'm thinking about now... Have you bought it yet?
brownnova Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Just catching up on this thread- you truly do bag some awesome buys!
DodgyBastard Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 I went for a look at the E28, it's a 518 manual in faded red. RJC_8166 by srblythe, on Flickr The guy would have taken £800 for it which is pretty good for an E28 with a years test but it does have a few issues that put me off so I decided not to buy it right there and then but I'm still considering it... Dick Cheeseburger Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 800 notes for an E28 with a full test? Didn't think they existed for under £2k with actual floorpans.
