ruffgeezer Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Guy I know lost his father late last year, amongst other things he has a very sorry looking hunter on the drive along with a few spares, realistically it's probably beyond redemption, however it would probably yield some useful spares. Is anyone on the shite radar on board with one of these? I imagine perhaps he'd like to relive his childhood memories with a ride in one, if his late father's car cannot be salvaged. Jim Bell Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Nomad on RR has a beat up Dailly. Unfortunately, though a thoroughly good egg, he's up near me. Probably geographically unreasonable.
ruffgeezer Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Bump for pictures, it's been off the road since 2008 we believe, we haven't attempted to start it again yet. Cavcraft 1
ruffgeezer Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 I think the pictures and colour flatter it somewhat, but I'm hopeful that we can get it running again if nothing else. eddyramrod 1
Wilko220 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Wilko220 has a Humber Sceptre. I'd be keen on it as a spares car / long term project if it was going for sensible money - but I think the cost of transportation from Ruffgeezer's part of beautiful Lincolnshire down to my part of shite Hertfordshire would rule it out tbh.
lovejoy Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Paykan Hunter is probably drooling over it right now - sent it over to him !
ruffgeezer Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Probate valued it at £3-400 but I imagine there will be some movement in that, we are hoping to try and start it again soon, there are also a bunch of spares knocking about that I'm sure he'd be happy to add in. eddyramrod 1
TagoraSX Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Any cracks in the dashboard? what spares does he have?
ruffgeezer Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 I didn't notice any cracks, there is a spare speedo, a few panels (not sure if they are any good mind!) a Chrysler badged grille and probably more, we haven't sorted any of it out yet!
CortinaDave Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Looks save able enough. Shame you're the arse end of the country from me!
AnthonyG Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I was expecting something you'd need to sweep up with a dustpan and brush. That just looks like an average Hunter circa 1982! R is almost late reg plate madness, although I've seen S plate ones as well. If it's badged as a Chrysler it's most likely assembled in Ireland, and I think they stopped building them in late '77 or 78. Bear 1
ruffgeezer Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 This one is a Hillman, the one before it was Chrysler badged...
AnthonyG Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 That probably counts in its favour as I don't think Dublin built cars were very well built, it really was just a CKD kit assembly operation. The paint plant was reputedly very primitive even for the 1970s.
vulgalour Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Can I get some pictures of the sills and floors please?
eddyramrod Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 +1 on that, show us how bad it is! I've had three (older) including a Sceptre, I think they're grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!
ruffgeezer Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 These are some more pictures the owner sent me this week, I will be attending on Sunday to see if we can get her to fire up. Let me know if they cover what you wanted @TagoraSX
Bear Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 That really doesn't look that bad. The battery tray is still tray-shaped.
ruffgeezer Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Well today has had a bit of success, but also some more pictures that shows just how tender the underside of the Hunter is...
ruffgeezer Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDGADhpQ_ZE Oh yes, there was this too. oldcars, Wilko220 and Lacquer Peel 3
