Any Infiniti, Datsun's exec brand that nobody really cares about, sell in penny numbers, and depreciate faster than a Steinway off a cliff

I came back to the UK for a visit a couple of years ago and saw one of these in a car park, totally forgetting they had ever existed prior to that:

Then I remembered that I once met someone who owned one of these:

And he remarked that he'd just passed another one and the driver had waved at him, which leads me to believe that at least two were sold (to nutters).

Citroen C6

Not sure these will ever really be shite as Citroën have managed the impossible and made a big French waftybarge that remains desirable outside of France.

I have searched this thread out as I wanted to nominate the Citroen C1. Why? Well let me tell you.

I was loaned a 1.0 C1 as a courtesy car, keep fit windows, door panels are painted metal, no central locking. The 1.0 engine I was told has variable valve timing which I believe is the only witch craft on the car. It's a 3 cylinder, revs well and goes well and handles like a go cart.

Auto at don't like it, so it's got to be great!

That's a rebadged Suzuki SX4. The Fiat version sold terribly.

Was just going to post these, there are a few about Cheltenham now, not all owned by residents of the Tivoli district yet (it's a residential 'quarter' here).

The mags are quite polite about these, Ssanyongs' best effort yet (although that's not hard). Local dealer also handles Great Wall so just needs MG for the East Asian value brand trifecta.

Considering their previous efforts, that looks great.

It's also less hideous than the Juke, that enormous Mini thing and the Range Rover Ewok.

On the first page RichardMorris suggested the Renault Wind as Future Shite. Today I saw one on the A27 and I have to agree with that nomination.

German classic car magazines are starting to build up a W220-hype right now. And like the VW Bus T3 or the Mercedes-Benz W124 showed, that´s gonna work.

So the W220 will not be overlooked I guess. There are already collectors buying the good ones.

There's a Hyundai Accent 3door down the street, it sort of looks alright but hasn't got the styling quite right, I like it so obviously shite.

It's the best time to be buying a W220. At their lowest value, plenty of selection, a lot of low owner looked after ones and also loads of decent second hand parts that are cheap + plentiful.

I'm on the look out for a sub 2k S500. Preferably a facelifted interior one. Ideally with all the trimmings like soft closing doors, double glazing, air conditioned seats, remote boot open/close, etc! Probably won't all be working mind.

It's a potential replacement for the Saab and on my modern car bucket list.

I, as a japanese car enthusiast and 80s-car-driver, have always been sceptical. Electronic problems, collapsed air-suspension and lot´s of trouble

with the CAN-Bus come to my mind when I am thinking of a W220.

But recently, I talked to a friend of mine (Subaru-collector). His father (86 years old) bought a S320 CDI new in 2001 and is still driving it with almost

300.000km on the clock by now. He had it serviced every year at the Mercedes-Benz-dealer and except the usual wear parts like brakes and tires,

nothing major went wrong. I am impressed, I have to say.

Wouldnt thought so.

Maybe, but I suspect the dodgy ones have ended up as spares or in Africa by now. Air suspension problems actually don't seem that bad. If pump, cheap rebuild kits are available. If struts, then cheaper aftermarket ones are available now direct from Germany too. They're around £250 price point but considering that's the spring and damper in one, that's not a bad price imo. Also, they're very easy to DIY replace and no worries of a spring in your face.

I'm weird and electronic faults are much more preferable to me than mechanical. I actually enjoy fault finding and repairing them. :)

CAN systems are actually not that complex things. By modern standards especially they are pretty slow and very simple protocols. Simple enough to be able to decode it with an oscilloscope and by eye. In fact I did just that for my final major university project when I was trying to get my project working (a CAN interlinked analog data acquisition system).
