Would there be room for one more attendee?

Are there any Eastern/Southern types keen to head Wales-wards in a convoy?

Posted

I've been trying to read this thread and find out what's going on.

What is happening?? How can I sign up??? I am confused and stupid :(

It's all on the first page but to recap:

Arrive at the Llangollen motor museum Friday 5th June afternoon/evening, set up camp/hotel/fold down car seats.

Have a BBQ/takeaway/pub meal depending on time of arrival/preferences/weather

Visit the museum Saturday morning, then a scenic drive down to Devil's Bridge in the afternoon.

Set up camp again (or hotel for the softies ;-) ), carvery evening meal or veggie option.

Breakfast Sunday morning, then depart through the day. Simples!

Attendees thread here; all are welcome!

Semi, I'm departing from Thame, Oxon if you want to meet up en route?

Right....

As I won't be able to get the Friday off work, I plan to arrive earlyish Sat am, join in whatever is happening then piss off Saturday evening / sleep in my car - depending on how the day goes.

My question is.... How early should I arrive Saturday morning?

essix to llangollen in one go - EEEK

We'll be doing Glasgow to Llangollen in one go.

Well maybe a pee and tea stop at Westmorland... but one dunt.

Posted

I'll be doing Bulgaria to Llangollen. I R WINNA.

My question is.... How early should I arrive Saturday morning?

Museum opens 9:30ish but I doubt we'll be queued up outside waiting for the doors to open. It's a couple of hours drive to Devil's Bridge in the afternoon.

So to answer your question - dunno really

I probably wouldn't aim to get there before 9 or 10am.

My current plan is to drive over after work on Friday evening.

You should find people up and about from 8ish I reckon.

Better keep the bloody noise down then..... if you are planning to be up at the crack of sparrowsfart.....

I'm up for that.

I'd reckon we'll be around till middayish at least, but arrive earlier if you want to visit the museum.

I'd planned a scenic rather than quick route down to Devil's Bridge, which will probably take 3 hours or so. Will do a few print-outs for people for if/when we get split up. Although the roads should be reasonably quiet with the school holidays not having started, and off the beaten track a little.

I'm just trying to decide which car to bring, sure I could be like the rest of the Scottish contingent and turn up in a Volvo but the temptation to take the shitest car I own is great...

It's still 2 months away FOAD ... wait to see what's running & legal nearer the time ;)

None of my options are currently ready, so it'll likely be a choice of which gets fixed before June.

Partridge, where in the country are you departuring from?

Beko, I'm setting off from Bury St Edmunds, will look on the map to see where our paths cross.

I did the short one last year. I can't remember what I paid but it was worth it.

Choice of the 220sli or the 760 estate here. Initial plans were for the rover, but that attended with phil_lip last year so the Volvo is looking the favoured option at the mo.

My £40 half a Skoda is a definite no-go now so I've been looking at other transport alternatives. The masochist in me is tempted by a dirt cheap (£20-£50 for a runner) Balkan 50 or Balkan 250. This Simson is currently for sale and just up the road from me too and would do very nicely but is a bit salty for me at the moment at around £240.

I've also tried to e-mail the seller of this beast to see how much he wants for it but have had no answer so far. Perhaps not quite big enough for my 6'5" carcass to sleep in.

If I can't find/afford a shit 'ped, scooter, bike or car to arrive in then I'll probably just hitch-hike over to Wales.

And yes, I do realise that if I load up some 50cc POWAHOUSE with me and my big rucksack for the journey, I'll probably need to set off last week to make it in time but I think it would be a fun* trip.
