Six Cylinders Motoring Notes

A LNA Inca update

The driver’s window glass channel is the correct one and now sort of works. The window rocks and my mech thinks it is wear in the winder mechanism.

The driver’s door panel has finally fallen apart so I fitted the blue spare for now.

Jacking up, checking steering and suspension has not revealed any faults in spite of my concerns about a slight wayward feel. The MOT is now booked for the 20th so we will see if my mech driving it there or the tester find anything then.

My steering wheel surface is breaking up and is horrible to hold so I bought a lace on cover but they have sent me the wrong size.

Checking the wiper shows slop in the driver’s wheel box and the arm on the passenger side has slop in it.

Has anybody got a Driver’s window winder mech, driver’s windscreen wiper wheel box and maybe an original style wiper arm they are willing to sell?

As we are, we are on target for the 8/9 Sep Chevron Citroen Rally with the visa 40th Birthday Party.

Shame the paintwork won't take a pressure wash, I could come over now it's at your house and give it a proper clean!

It smells horrid inside, I guess from sitting with the engine in the boot for 6 years!

What is the car hiding under the tarp in front? The e-type?

You got it in one!

It has not one, but two leaking core plugs and while I have taken the inlet manifold off to get at the bad one, there is a weep from the next one along and that requires the starter motor to be removed. I need help with getting under the car to get the starter off so that will have to wait a little longer.

Yes, the boot carpet is full of oil. If you've got something big enough make a potion out of biological washing powder and hot water and give it a very long soak, then waft the pressure washer over it to rinse, and repeat as needed. Plus side, the boot won't rust from the inside out any time soon! Lashings of G101 and many filthy cloths would clean up inside

You're very welcome to do so in the absence of a pressure wash! It would be nice to make it as good as it can be, despite the challenges of its 'patina'...

I could do a much better job with just a hose rather than a 3 mile walk for buckets of water... Good wash, tight work, do the wheels properly, polish the glass again, hoover the interior...

You in tomorrow? I'll chat to Amy when she wakes up later, she went out drinking last night! I won't have to polish it much as it'll take the remains of the paint off if I do...

Gearing up to ask her if I can go to the citroen show as a visitor, might take eva along. Would have to park out of the way, unless you need a car taking over there, evas car seat just needs a seatbelt

In until about 2pm, then Six-cylinder will be back at around 6pm... we're out tomorrow at the GS/A Rally...

Hosepipe is available...

I'm sure we'll need a hand to move some cars to the Visa rally, so you're welcome to take one if we can get Eva's seat in the right place.

I don't think Mrs6C will like you very much if she finds the LNA carpet soaking in washing powder in her pool!

Could you not trailer the visa we started at shitefest too and see if everyone could put it together over the weekend of the show? Got a hoover chap I know wanting me to come to the show as well, he's bringing his visa diesel apparently, and his xantia with caravan

Unfortunately that engine has sunken liners and needs a professional rebuild. I have been looking out for a good secondhand 1124cc engine to do an economical repair to the car without success.

I knew he was into his old cars, but didn't know he was doing it properly! He's coming to mine the day before I'm coming to yours to do some washing he's bringing a French Hoover Compact which needs motor work, a turbomaster that needs 5h3 clutch looking at, and other toys!

I have met him at various Citroen shows over a number of years.

That'll do it! Once the worst is out it should come good! I'll stick all the wet kit and the vax in the car too when I come over, a nice G101 solution through that should finish it off! (assuming it doesn't fall apart before then)

post-4787-0-76690000-1533553615_thumb.jpgI used two liquid washing powder tabs, one in the water tub and one brushed into the area where most of the oil was. Wow after 3 hours you can see the oil floating on the surface.

post-4787-0-73617600-1533553899_thumb.jpgThe fish are very pleased I did not use Mrs6Cs pool to clean the oil out of the carpet.

post-4787-0-51057000-1533553986_thumb.jpgI splashed a bit of fairy washing up liquid over the carpet and gave it a good rinse with the jet setting.
