Six Cylinders Motoring Notes - The Italian Job

Don't need to be.

Nylon is a good insulator.

Why else would she be wearing those stockings.

Surely not purely for tittilation purposes.

She is qualified after all.

Merely concerned for the young lady's safety. I think the nylons are too thin too provide adequate insulation. I'd also be concerned for mr six cyls heart if she did turn up, and his life expectancy if mrs six cyl arrived home at the same time.

The left hand lever pulls a long way in what does it do?

Im actually slightly worried by some of these statements.

Tell me, do you live in Lancashire/planning on riding in Lancashire - if so please can you tell me when so I can ensure Im not on the road at the time.

Good Luck

Your first danger will come if you visit a Field of Dreams Open Day.

My first moped had a clutch lever and 3 on the twist!

I think some adjustment of the rear brake is going to be needed.

I ordered the scooter battery at 3.50pm yesterday and at 10am this morning it arrived from Abergele, North Wales.

Good old Tanya - my local(ish) battery place :-)

If Slowsilver and yourself are not available I may have to ask this electrician to do the work as she seems well qualified!

You can tell it's been wired by an Indian - Prince Philip

The horn is on the left and works.

Ok another go reveals that it is the left hand lever that has to be pulled and now the starter turns.

The left hand lever pulls a long way in what does it do?

I do feel thick now is it two stroke or four stroke? If two stroke where is the oil tank?

Remember I only bought it because it looked so pretty!

Sorry Chris, I just assumed you'd know the layout of the controls given that you have that Elyseo 50, and most 50/125 scooters are similar in that respect!

The engine is the pre-Leader type, the most obvious way of telling them apart is that the Leader doesn't have a sight glass for checking the oil.

It was me I was more interested in your other bikes to take notice until I got it home.

I need side pin wipers for my Gamma?

I have a silver side pin arm on the drivers side and a black hook with a side pin adaptor the other. I need new blades as we prepare for MOT but I would quite like a matching silver side pin arm for the passenger side and a pair of silver side pin blades, does anybody know where they can be bought in the UK?

I have taken my BMW E30 for a few jobs at my favourite garage today and had to park next to the owners old Ford Escort. It used to have an Essex V6 in it but he has now fitted a 2.0 Pinto, I think I preferred the old fashionedness of the Essex in an Escort.

Collected our ZX which has had a MOT and service, just the rear brakes needed adjusting. 7521 miles this year.

Regarding the wipers my old Talbot Solara had the same setup. The garage just renewed them with Hella brand, so they can't be too hard to find if they were presumably from a motor factors. The Hella were superb wiper blades.

Surely it would be easier to find a matching black hook style arm for the drivers side and use modern hook blades.

My Jag has a hook on the drivers side and side pin on the passenger side (both black). I've been meaning to find a matching hook arm for the passenger side but have never been bothered as it had fresh blades when I bought it!

Modern blades would look shite though.

I can't help but admire your desire for wiper perfection.

My Reliant should have these type, but mine has been bodged (not by me) Really need to try and get the correct one.

Posted

It looks to me finding the correct wipers is not going to be easy. I will fit anything for now to get the car MOTed and then next year I will start looking for the correct type.

I thought I had found some from Germany, but at £55 they are non starters. When I looked more carefully they were adaptor side pin anyway.

One thought, is anybody going to the restoration show at Stone 5th Nov and can look for me?

I have helped GoGently today load his spare Visa engine into his trailer so he can take it to the garage who have his white Visa 11RE for an engine transplant.

I was going to practice on my Honda Melody this morning but the grass was so wet I would have been soaked so I didn't.

Don't the packs of blades come with a supply of odds and sods for various different fittings... or am I living in the past? As I never throw away anything like that I might have some bits somewhere.

Some do come with side pin adaptors, but I have only seem black ones of late and I need a silver side pin arm as well.

I need to get a pair of wiper blades that will fit a side pins I have at the moment as a minimum for MOT and the final solution is a pair of silver wiper blades and arms with side pin fittings to fit the Gamma.

I also make the mistake of not measuring the existing wiper blades when I visited the car on Friday so if all you Gamma owners could pop outside and measure your wiper blades I would be grateful!

When you know the length I might be able to get some stainless ones from a marine suppliers I have an account with.

Thanks, other listing give them at 18 inchs but I can't be sure until I check the car which is not at home. I have now been in my garage and found I have a new pair of black 18 inch wipers with side pin adaptors so I hope that will solve the MOT problem. It would be nicer if the car was set up with stainless side pin wipers to look the part.

Pink and Red ended up parked together so I snapped them, which would you choose?

Self indulgence, did a glamour photo of Red Raspberry because I have had to take the decision to pass him on as I have too many cars that need tax.

Will I ever be allowed out again without a chaperon!

I popped out this afternoon to give my friend a lift to collect his sons Mazda MX3 from a garage and that’s all I told Mrs6C. The bit I had not mention to Mrs6C was I had seen an advert for a Saab 9-3 SE Turbo convertible and was planning to view it!

A very short description and 3 poor photos meant I felt the chances of it being a good one were slim, but as I was passing within 2 miles of it I had to check.

A look around the car and short test drive had me convinced it was a good one and a deal was stuck including delivering it to my house then and there. The first thing Mrs6C knew about it was a Saab turned up on the drive and I came in the house with the seller.

Apparently my only mistake was choosing a Saab without heated seats!

Does Mrs6C ever randomly purchase cars or are you the head buyer?
