Six Cylinders Motoring Notes - what date should the next FoD be?

If you are going anywhere near J6 M40 you can pick them up, or I could drop them off at yours some time.  Who is the Jag specialist at Milton Keynes?

I do get your way from time to time or your are welcome to visit me. Not sure what my movements are yet but I will be going to Princess Risborough a fair bit in the new year as we are going to have to sell my mothers house to pay the nursing home fees.

The Jag specialist in MK are E&E Services MK Ltd. They are the people who put your S1 Sovereign back on the road for me, they did what was necessary for a reasonable price and I would use them again.

I took S1 to Brackley car gathering today, first time the car has been used for a while and it started easily with its manual choke conversion. I then had a misfire and I nearly gave up but I keep going and the misfire cleared.

With it misfiring on one its still got one/seven* more than "normal" cars :)

*not sure if its a 6 or 12

It is a 6, Mrs 6C would like a 12 but I am not brave enough!

Hold on,we have two 6s maybe we should trade them in for one 12!

I have been to look at a 1996 Chrylser Stratus convertible today.

The reasons I did not buy it:

• Exhaust rear box missing (seller has a secondhand stainless box which he says he will have adapted to fit the system).

• 3 tyres, while they have some tread are badly cracked on the main tread Patten.

• Wheels has been aerosoled black badly and you can see the flaking lacquer under that.

• Hood while working and not leaking is old. It has a small slit where it folds above the side window glass.

• Heater does not give any hot air but fan works.

• Aircon not working

• Rear bumper corner has hit something and damaged the paint.

• Interior looks tired with minor slits in the leather. Drivers door panel smashed by speaker.

• Odd minor jerk from gearbox.

• Driver door edge touched in badly by hand.

• MOT only 3 months

I have not broken my pledge to NOT buy any new cars in 2017 because we have not reached 2017 yet!

Surely the clincher should be:-

"looks fucken gopping".

If this is anything like the Sebring convertible that I once rented on me holibobs, it would be like a bendy rubber thing on corners, so lacking in stiffness was that shed.

OK not too many likes for these, but I do and have driven them thousands of miles including one epic trip in the USA when I drove one 11,000 miles in 6 weeks!

The S2 is off the road at the moment because we have stripped the thread in adaptor that the oil pressure gauge sender screws into and I can't find a replacement.

Just a thought but could you take the sender out of the adaptor and screw it straight into the block ???

I never owned up but on boxing day I found this one for sale in a Garage just outside Tewkesbury, I am a but put off because the brake discs are rusty and there is a lot of condensation inside the car.

The sender has a tapper thread. Earlier cars without the adaptor have a paper oil filter housing and the sender screws straight into that.

I have a Helicoil set, thread seal and will give that a try.

Any details on this fellow please.

It is a Moped, not sure of the year as I have no paperwork. The 103 was not sold in the UK.

I bought it from castros_bro earlier this year and panhard 65 has helped me find a supplier for a new clutch/variator, which I now have. It is with the father of my mech who is going to put it back together for me in the spring.

I'm sure you will stick to it and await your next purchase.

I have not broken my pledge, the car is not new.

I have not broken my pledge, it's not a car, it's a van/tractor/motorbike/hovercraft/bus.

Forget that Chrysler tat ( I have driven Strati And Sebringz so I know) and spend the dosh on go-juice for Daimlers.

Interesting how the Sebring/Strutus has only attract negative comments even on a forum for the unloved!

I had one as part of a fly drive in 2008, 2.4 drank fuel, very slow, a bit wallowing but comfortable with it. Interior looked somewhat flimsy but that's modernish American cars, built to a price as everyone is brainwashed into wanting the new 2017 phlegm xl etc.
