Six Cylinders Motoring Notes

Six-cylinder

Recommended Posts

I also need technical help with a cheap bottle jack I bought from Aldi. First try at using it to see if the reach was enough for the 2cv ( no) i accidentally unscrewed the release valve too much and it fell out, with fluid. I have bought extra fluid, but can’t get pressure back now. The manual explains how to fill and bleed it, but I’m having no luck so will bring it if for technical people to look at please.

Planning to come along this now assuming weather in Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire calms down tomorrow first thing, expect I will be there around 11am. I will be mostly drinking tea.

Having spent much of the morning running up and down after bits of rubbish whilst servicing my bike I hope it’s not as windy.

The sun is out, the sky is blue and Six-cylinder has gone off up to the FoD to open the gates... I will follow on shortly with some refreshments!

The Scotoshite/ASMM EuroJunket will unfortunately not be in attendance at the FoD today, due to geographical issues and a late start for Dover.

See you all in another field soon  :)

Nice to meet everyone today.

I may have mentioned in conversation today that the disco is just so good at most things. Getting home it seems is not one of them.

I limped it back to my workshop. I'll leave it there. It lost power and seems to be starving of fuel, possibly duff fuel or water in the tank maybe?

I am glad you have it safely put away, are you ok to get home, do you want to borrow a car?

Sorry to have missed this, I spent the time instead trying to dry out my C15 electrics to stop it blowing the sidelight fuse. Lets just see what happens next time it rains.

As usual it was great day at the Field of Dream even as it was early in the year we caught a couple of hail showers.

The aim for the day was to get the Giulietta rear inboard brakes released and the car rolling and thanks to Andyrew we achieved that. We moved cars around so the Giulietta is at the front for loading.

Slowsilver also completed the o/s rear brake rebuild on the Spitfire 6.

We took shelter from a passing shower in the Hay barn which now contains the CX and I mentioned I needed the accelerator cable off it because it was fire damaged. What better in the rain than to take a CX apart!

Junior motorcycling took place.

Somebody bought that wild child!

Usual tea was drunk and even old acquaintances renewed.

Thank you everybody who took part.

I visited the field of dreams and look what happened to me. The guilietta bit me ( compensation £££££!). We had to break into my Mercedes’ 25 yr old unopened first aid kit, which was actually very well stocked with decaying bandages while trying not to drip blood onto the pale grey interior. Thanks to professional assistance my finger was re-attached in textbook fashion.

Looking forward to the next visit.

A big THANK YOU!!!! from me for getting my Giulietta mobile again. It will be great to get it away to the Alfa specialist to be sorted out and returned to the road. Those of you who spied the tax disc will have noticed that it was last on the road in March 1999, so after two decades of standing around in various rural locations, it deserves a bt of TLC.

Now I need to have a rummage in the shed to find the spare doors, wings, sills and headlights...

I think of it as day-care for grown men. There is a very odd sense of achievement in helping get something dead moving again, although I don’t think the mice will appreciate being relocated.

You also need to contact Chris to be reacquainted with the misplaced child’s helmet :-)

Was it a misplaced child, or a misplaced helmet?

We may* have noticed a missing child earlier despite being elbow deep in a slightly burny cx engine bay.

I also think said child has a future in parcour given the exploration of the JCB.
