Heard of 'Road Driver' ?

Anyone here heard of 'Road Driver'?

It's a site, where amongst other things, members of the public can report bad or dangerous driving. I'm not sure whether this is a good thing or not but I imagine the police take no action against it.

Is that the place that sad old bloke who was on telly once runs? He was a right curtain twitcher, anyhow you sent his website details of bad driving and he put the details up. I'm sure someone found his reg number and started sending it to him and he spied his arse.

Sounds like a haven for keyboard/road wariors and 30-something women with "I want to speak to the manager" haircuts who perceive they have been wronged while dropping Pippa and Timothy off at school in her black X5 with tinted windows.

There was one called "better driving please" which was the same. Nothing about doddery old fools causing massive tailbacks but plenty of "Ford Mondeo reg number xxxxx was seen to accelerate sharply away from a junction just half a mile from a school, last Sunday"

Even the way the "reports" were written suggests traffic cop wannabes. Oh, and that they called them Reports in the first place.

I wouldn't be quite so quick to condemn those who run this site. Perhaps if it does deter dangerous driving or bring attention to a person, otherwise unknown to the traffic police it will have served a useful purpose.

Like some master criminal with an empty screen wash resevoir, who is caught in the act of committing the heinous crime of pouring liquid from a drink onto the screen, to clear it, until they reach the nearest garage?

Its all a load of Big Brother shite, encouraging people to grass on each other for the perceived satisfaction of "saving the children" or "making our roads safer" or some crap like that and giving tedious little people a voice that can be heard by link minded curtain twitchers.

Exactly. Who's to say that the people making the complaints are justified? Some people have a properly stupid idea of how road systems work - like those who have no idea that the car JOINING a motorway from a slip road should give way.

I agree that there is potential for vindictiveness. I saw some driving today which was so dangerous and ridiculous, I thought that the numbnuts behind the wheel really needs to be off the road before he kills. What do you do? Shrug and forget it? Blame it on them 'who need to sort it out'?

If I have a GENIUNE concern about neighbours driving drunk or whatever, I would call the cozzers. (well, I probably wouldnt, because I dont want to end up on the wrong side of my neighbours like Nige Bickle getting his cars torched) and NOT spout off on an internet forum for reporting non-crimes to nobody.

I can't imagine it actually gets many reports.

I thought I'd be able to browse reports for an area or something just to see what sort of rubbish has been written, but you have to search for a reg.

Nothing on any of mine.

Fact is, like it or lump it, the Web is increasingly being used for this kind of thing. It goes to the heart of the matter of whether the Internet is a wholely a good thing.

You cant say the internet is a bad thing. Full stop.

Just because there is child porn on it, or forums full of tedious old farts moaning about peoples parking on it doesnt make it a bad thing. Its a medium for expressing content - you cant blame the medium for the content. Before the internet, people traded VHS or polaroids of child porn and people went to their local Neighbourhood Watch meeting to moan about parking. Being online doesnt make it worse, its just more accessible.

People will always be petty, arrogant, ignorant dicks and it doesnt matter what technology they have access to, dicks will always be dicks.

I never said the Internet was a bad thing- I suggested it might not be a wholely good thing. So what about neighbourhood watch? Is that worthwhile? And what if you had reason to believe a child was being neglected; would you do nothing because it's 'not my business is it', or 'they' should do something about it.

I've got little to say about the site I mentioned as I only glanced at it for a moment; I'm surprised by the general attitude here though.

About as likely as the 'GT RID OV DAVDIV CAMERON' page on Facebook bringing down the government, I would think.
