My 1st catch of the year!

My wife dreams of us having belted Galloway cattle but we can’t afford them at the moment and in the meantime she wants a C15 Van she can paint up to look like a black and white belted Galloway! This morning before I went out I left a bid on a C15D van and came home to find I had won it.  It has a MOT until Aug and claims to run and drive! My wife plans to use it to expand and tend her fruit orchard in the spring.

Collection thread to follow, maybe with a twist……

That looks a nice little van with a magic carpet ride.

Wow! That looks like a bit of alright.

I looked at buying one of these back along, nothing as nice as that for the money.

I'm a big fan of the C15, When i worked for a local motor factors we ran a few of them and they would take so much abuse, the only thing which went wrong on them was random door parts falling off on a regular bases,

One was only 2 years old and already on over 100k, A 205 litre drum of anti freeze in the back made them interesting to drive as well!, I was counter staff and i got to take this one home every night, I won't go into details about what me and the girlfriend (now wife) used to get up to in it!

I sold them new in 1987 and while I had a company Citroen BX our company C15 demonstrator could often be found overnight with me as it was useful while I was restoring an old car. My boss did not mind as it keep my BX clean but our MD found it full of oily and  rusting car parts once to often and banned me from using it as a van!

That's absolutely brilliant ! I'll definitely use that as an excuse, when Mrs.F questions my next shite purchase :

"Well, you see... I always wanted a pet turtle, so I bought this Allegro that I'm going to paint green..."

Kind thought but as I already have a Visa Diesel  and a ZX TD so I do have that book.

The 1.9 is the same engine used in the FSO Caro, isn't it?  If none of the FSO boys here claims it, I will, because there's a diesel Caro in Cyprus just waiting for me to raise enough Euros...

KOLLEKTED.

it's ace! Slow, the drivers door is flapping about a bit, it smells like an old tent plus when you brake it sounds like an airbed going flat, but still ACE!

Love the logic of this  :-D  Best reason for buying an old van ever.

My wife dreams of having another dog but we can't at the moment - I wonder if that means I can buy a Lancia Gamma?

Edit:  Just realised Sigmund Fraud basically beat me to it with this thought.  Oh well.

Is there any work we need to do to make safe and legal?

Is there any work we need to do to make it more comfortable to use?

Did you have to give Tim sweets?

It looks good and like yours, my wife has also expressed an interest in a little white two seater...

Right-o peeps.

Finally managed to sit down with a cup of tea so I can give AS my full attention and spill the beans on this fantastic Frenchy.

When I saw that the mileage was 220,000 miles or so I was expecting the old van to be clapped out, to a certain extent it is but it's obviously been cared for and never done any heavy work in it's life. A few dash lights are out and the ash tray fell out as I drove home but apart from that it drives A1. The trailing arms are free from wonkyness, brakes work well with a good shove and it's pleasant to drive. When  picked it up it was as slow as F00K. I honestly thought there was something wrong with it but after a few miles it got into it's stride.  I think the fact it's been off the road for yonks made have had something to do with it as it deffo got better to drive the more I drove it.

OBV I collected it in the dark, and it's still dark now so I can't give a full appraisal at the moment but apart from scabby seams in the sill areas  it seems solid as a rock and amazingly dent free. I was informed before I boarded the C15 that the drivers door pin thingy on the B pillar was loose because the area around it was cracked, and sure it enough the drivers door is free to rattle around when closed. A quick wazz with a mig will sort it.

Staying with the drivers door theme the window can be slid up and down by hand and the winder handle just spins round.

The tyres are all good, all the lights work, it;s perfectly legal and safe to drive as is, but the wobbly door needs sorting soonish.

Apart from all that, there's nothing much to report. It's awesome!!

Oh, the mat in the back is MISSING. 6 cyl should deffo leave a NEG for the ebay seller for that.
