This morning I was up nice and early to pick up my new set of wheels from North London ( well I say my new wheels but my dad has taken a shine to it so now it is going to be his lol)

First of all it was a 20 odd mile drive to Wadhurst train station (due to line work) by my father as he decided to phone me up an hour earlier as he had forgot to put his alarm clock back so I got a call saying I was running late at 6.30 in the morning...

I only took one picture on the train as I got talking to a girl named Sam who needed an iPhone lead to use. post-9282-0-78925600-1414344025_thumb.jpg so I invited her for a coffee at London Bridge station and we also swapped numbers.

Also I hate taking pictures of 375 electrostar south eastern trains as I work on them during the week and the particular train I was sitting on I only saw on Friday lol.

Sam was getting the northern line underground to Brent Cross and so luckily for me I had to get the same train as I got off a couple of stops later at a place called Burnt Oak.

Once I got to Burnt oak I was greeted by the seller Danny who picked me up in his new Range Rover Evoque from the station, It was a really nice motor so I will buy one in about 20 years time once it's at old k series freelander money.

The car in question

As you can see in the final dash shot it needed some juice so here's the obligatory petrol station shot.post-9282-0-10322100-1414345441_thumb.jpg

And while I was at it I needed a large coke but I didn't want to spill it over the snazzy suede look interior as its like new inside.

The journey home was a bit boring as the stereo didn't work but once I got back I took the stereo out the dash with an old set of keys and renewed a fuse on the back and it now works again.post-9282-0-88296600-1414345847_thumb.jpg

I'm over the moon with this little low mileage gem and it does drive very well and once cleaned up it should look as good as new.

I don't think it was a bad buy for £520 :)

Yes I did take the photos but to really get the blurry amateur look you have to have a 3 piece KFC meal and smear your messy oily fingers across the phone lens lol.

Well bought! Nice to see an A3 that isn't silver for once :)

Acceptable motoring for £520! Nothing wrong with that at all, looks cared for.

Every other early A3 round here has got crap tinting film peeling off, 18" Repro alloys and the throb of a flashy JVC stereo.

We await pictures of Sam. Good work on the chat up!

Forgot to mention, that Sam bird will be putty in your hands if she sees that.

What I liked about it was the colour plus it came with a full history from a dealer local to Edgware called H R Owen.

It also had the original dealer plates and tax disc holder so I think i may put its 2001 tax disc back in the window.

The only downside I can find with the car is some pogweasel paint on the boot plus it's had a new front wing in the past that has a little too much orange peel for my liking so I will get the 2000 grade wet and dry out for the wing and also give the car a good compound and a decent hard wax to bring the car up like new again.

The only problem I've now got is I've now got to go through all the same process again to find myself another decent low mileage non chav A3 on the cheap which is harder said than done.

Anyone now want a decent 04 Diesel Focus.

I've already been texting Sam and if we meet up again I will get some pics, it makes a change to meet a normal girl rather than a POF nutter, I must get out in the real world more lol.

That's a bit of a result, a tidy prestige* German motor for a monkey AND a hot date. Nice work.

Give her the old Reliant engine magic.

Audi looks surprisingly nice, what it wrong with me?

Always good to see the 'Way out' sign in a thread, it reminds me of the days when the BBC had a sense of humour when interviewing politicians,.

Looking forward to seeing Sam. Tell us more!

I've only had one text back from Sam so it looks like it's not going to go anywhere so I guess it was just a brief encounter.

Thinking about it Trevor Howard didn't have much luck with Celia Johnson in the film and I don't own a trilby anyway lol.post-9282-0-87856600-1414532289_thumb.jpg

But I'm going to put the Audi in for a fresh ticket tomorrow, I think it will fail on a tyre or two but Kwikshit are doing a £10 cash back offer if you buy two Goodyear tyres online plus offer free mobile fitting, so I guess it's not all bad lol

It just looks like I may have to try POF for a date now lol.

You're supposed to wait at least 3 days, or until she contacts you before you txt back. Similar applies to the effort that should be made to check all new fluids on new purchases. If its done 50k miles wi nae oil or coolant, whats another 1k?;)

Posted

Looks tidy, but have you checked the bottom of the doors for the creeping crustiness that affects most A3s of that vintage now?

Posted

The A3 has been for a drive today down to the MOT station and she skated a new ticket....

All she got was an advisory for a crusty rear number plate and one tyre that was close to the limit but she had only done about 900 miles since the previous ticket

If the weather is good on Saturday the old girl is going to get a good clean,

it seems that when in comes to Audi's I'm very lucky as I've yet to buy a duff one over the years but I think it's a case of more luck than judgement.

Also there's no rot on the door bottoms which is another bonus, one of these days though I will get a car which I get to keep for myself lol

And as Drum has pointed out with his A4 it seems that it's compulsary to have drug dealer tints on them as my £221 Audi A4 has them but I won't take them off just in case it leaves glue over the windows, well that's my excuse lol.post-9282-0-83938700-1414611636_thumb.jpg

Should have told her you were off to collect a Corsa. You'd be knee deep in fanny batter now.
