anyway Im James From central Scotland and my daily shiter is a 1997 Audi A4 tdi quattro avant...

I saved it from the breakers for scrap value and it still had about 6 weeks MOT on it..

after a wheel bearing and a coil spring it was sitting with a years MOT

heres a few pics...

when I first got it ( private plate now removed )

Anybody that saves a dark green car is welcome here (I like green cars)

please note that you may be asked to buy a Volvo or move south of the border, though you may get away with taping some boxes on the Audi and pretending it's Swedish.

It looks a lot better for the change of numberplate. I too have a dark green car, an XM, at least it was dark green when I put it in the barn for the summer. Welcome by the way. And well done for daring to be different, not having a Volvo in AS Ecosse.

It's green? I thought it was the law that all audis had to be silver?? Oh and hello!

I'm glad to see a fellow Audi fan join the club.

An old Audi is the autoshite car of choice especially one that's been rescued from the crusher in metallic Green.

My last 3 Vag motors have been in that colour but I managed to get out the habit and went for a mica blue one this time.

I think Audi had a job lot of green paint to use up in the 90s

Hello :-)

There were lots of suffix ST cars punting around Fife, when I lived there (fifteen years ago).

Yea I robbed a few bits from my old FWD A4 avant before I sent it to the crusher after buying the quattro.

I do have a soft spot for a VAG wagon... I had a VW passat estate the same colour and I must admit its one of the things that sold the A4 to me was the colour

Hello and welcome.

Reckon you got a bargain there.  Another LIKE for the colour.

Welcome!  Milk and sugar?  Clearly, my question of yesterday regarding Audi A4 drivers has no relevance here

</desperate_backpedalling...>

quick search......

At the risk of causing offence with a sweeping generalisation: Audi A4 drivers.  WTaF??  Are they ALL lobotomised?

And breathe.

hmmmm I would be inclined to agree with you but I think it mainly the more modern A4 drivers.. I have been cut up a few times with them myself  :-D

TDI Quattro Avant sounds like a properly useful bit of kit.

yea I had been after one for ages but I didint want the 2.5 v6 it needed to be the 1.9Tdi AFN engine as IMO it is the most reliable.

its good for 50mpg around the doors and 60 on a run so alls good especially with it being constant 4 wheel drive

Welcome to AS... Expect to be running the A4 on SVO within a matter of days and swapping it for a 900 series Volvo within a matter of weeks :-)

 I done my apprenticeship on Saab's and Volvo's so Ive seen enough of them to last me a lifetime!!!

as for SVO I take it this is short for Veg Oil? I know the A4 would run on it but its never had it in it since ive had it.

Welcome from Paisley. It's not very square though. Have you tried a Volvo... ? ;)

ive had a few through the years... my last one was a 760 estate but that was 14 years ago..

Welcome. Are Audis' pineapple compatible or is it just Volkwagens?

I'd be ever so pleased if you could make it a priority to write a "how to" on getting out of Volvo ownership as my current fleet contains numbers 2, 4, 5 and 7 of the seven sodding things I've owned. Ta! :)

It is indeed, I suspect you will soon be tempted to mix some lovely, 80p/l sunflower oil into your fuel !

Welcome from the far side. I live there so I never have to actually meet anyone on here. I used to own an Audi but could not handle the abuse, so a Citroen was bought. That shut them up !

Enjoy the best old shite site on the web.

I swapped mine for a LWB high top transit if that helps

The transit was more practical for me at the time and I got offered a swap..

Nicely de-twatted. Welcome. Threads like this make me glad the newbie thread disappeared. Also, it's pleasing that some good has come out of the dreadful FB page! I shall stop calling for its culling.

I must admit I had never heard of the forum but saw a reference to it today come up on my timeline so I googled it which led me to here.... so Im glad I did  :-D

I dont think ive ever posted on it but I do like seeing the pictures of older cars still in use.. I just hate the posts with modern stuff with " is my car shit enough!!"

If I wanted to see modern tin boxes I would go down my local retail park or go for a walk around town...
