I've seen many of them with dented sills. The one at work is no exception whatsoever. I'd see it as a bargaining point and happily fix. If I can do 70's Triumphs then I should fear nowt.

The flower holder has to die though. No Herbie stickers either.

Is the dented sill thing not down to being jacked up in the wrong place? Seen lots of Mk4 Golfs also affected.

Yours seemed like good value for one of these, Vince70.

I thought it was down to stereotypical Beetle drivers and those high kerbstones in retail parks....

I've driven a couple of them, both 2.0.

I didn't think they were that bad. Seem to ride better than a Golf, other than that and one being a cabrio, nothing particularly memorable.

I'd quite like a Cooper S (Supercharged).

Can we get a pic of the girl please?

I'd like a Rover P6 V8 and a Saab 9000 FPT.

Oh bless her, she told me this evening that she's going to get rid of the Beetle next year and get a second hand iQ. She said that I could have the Beetle! I asked her how much and she doesn't want anything for it.  She is a sweetheart.

Damn, just realised. According to the Laws of Fuckwittery, the car will die massively just before the happy event despite it being stunningly reliable previously. Fuck.

A free car - she does sound lovely!

Were these all built in Mexico or was that just the US market ones?

Yes all the the new beetles are built in Mexico but a lot of the switchgear is still produced in Europe and lots of mk4 bits fit.

I found when buying bits for mine I would cross reference part numbers as it seems that beetle parts are more expensive than Golf parts.

Don't buy an Auto as my ex has found out to her misfortune that the boxes are very expensive to repair if neglected without decent oil changes once in awhile.

Goth, cats is a bad combination, believe me she's likely a psycho. Add in the nurse and willy wonka motor and she's a bona fide nutjob.

As for the Beetle, can't stand repro furniture.

For God's sakes man, don't be the bloke who ten years later wonders what might have been.
