Now down to two cars.

Two cars now seems the better option. Owning three or four means that not much gets done on any of them....

That is all.

Having just gone from 2 14 year old cars in good condition to that 2 plus a 34 year old car on the road but needing sorting from one end to t'other I car only agree. I'll have admit the enthusiasm and finances have waned as the years waxed....

It's a fine balance. I'm beginning to understand myself a bit better, when I say I'm selling a car/ reducing numbers what that actually means is I'm legitimising buying a different car in a months time. I dont consciously view it like that at the time, but that's what I always do.

One dependable plodder and 2 toys seems to be where it levels out at with me.

I think I was happiest when I just had one car,its depressing to think that if I worked on my cars every day for a year solid, I still would only have one that worked

Gone from seven or eight to three - two Volvo estates (I R SHEP_SCOTLAND) and a Cavalier (still VOR). I fear I'll end up with more shite on a daily basis.

I like to have three or four around me, but that could just be magpie instinct.  It can be bloody expensive, I know that, except for the fact that I rarely pay 4 figures for a car so it's not like I have ongoing payments, or depreciation.  It's perhaps fortunate that where I am now, even two is pushing the envelope slightly.  I propose to try and stick with these two for a while.

I must admit that I do find myself keeping the two oldest I have locked away dry because apart from anything else, I don't have to do any work on them and they come out in as good condition as they went away.  One has been for sale for too long really.

In fact I have six at the moment - three of those are for sale, one should sell quickly, two are in daily use, and two are essentially in limbo locked away.

I presently own two cars I can't use, due to one being broken and the other victim of insurance bollox.  No wait, I own half a Renault 6 too.  Oh, and I'm probably inheriting a Peugeot 106.  So that means I probably really own 3.5 cars.  Hey, at least I only own one and a bit Princesses now instead of three, so I'm sure I'm getting better.

Had 7 until the renault decided it wanted to die, that leaves 6 and the only one that truly could be used is in a yard with no insurance and is shit on fuel, at least i have a unit so i can store more broken cars.

Own 4 and really need to get it down to 2 or 3.  I nearly advertised one on here earlier then decided that it would be a better bet as a runner so went outside and made some progress with it.  Still not sure what to do as I'm now self employed so can legitimately spend an afternoon increasing the value of a car that I might* sell and call it work.

One car. If broke, fix it. Slowly improve it. If terminal or bored, fuck it.

3 if you count a modern.

But I'm currently looking for a lock up. It'd be rude to have an empty garage wouldn't it?

I'm shit at getting rid of cars. I'm like a car magnet. I need more space and time, a barn, with power and so on. Fuck.

Gone from 5 to 3 in the space of a week. Two stress free sales to enthusiasts that will do the cars justice but still lefts feeling slightly hollow. Fact is that buying old chod is about 20 times more fun than selling it.

^ that seems to be true in my case as well. Damn, I am really a lost cause.

I'm down to two, thinking of getting rid of one of those.

I don't see any point in having lots of dead cars or cars that don't get used. As I've only used the Focus once this week I'm thinking of putting it up for sale.

Within a week of offloading swmbo's Civic to offspring I have bought another Honda so still at 4 motors for two of us. All on the road. (I hate having stuff I don't use)

But the van doesn't count , it's so usefull and does more miles than everything else put together.

If I could (be arsed to) get rid of the MR2 and the Legacy I could get something sensible / stupid instead but what I need is a garage to play with them all in.

I couldn't have just one car, nobody has made one car that ticks all of my boxes, all of the time.
