Puma: now £SOLD!

So I am collecting the new addition tomorrow morning, and like all sensible car purchasers I am spending the evening beforehand reading about all the things I should have read about before I said 'yeah, I'll 'ave it, mate'. Not least the timing belt that simply must be done and which will cost approximately 5 times what it did for the Sierra mainly due to needing lots of special tools for it's fancy pants Far Eastern powerplant.

Ah, nuts to it. Research just scares you off buying stuff anyway, in my opinion.

More updates to follow.

Don't worry all will be revealed in about another 10 hours or so. :)

I am worried it could now be something of an anti-climax, though.

I really loath buying car insurance.

Buying the insurance is one thing, having to listen to all their terms and conditions is another, I would rather pay £20 more to have the option of not listening to all that crap.

One quick picture before I go to work. I hope I haven't disappointed you all too much.

Everywhere a Puma can get rust, it has got rust. Please be assured of that.

No tax so will have to sit on the drive until tomorrow. :(

Some things must be. Rusty arches on a Puma, EML light being on on a Zafira and Dog hair stuck in a Volvo interior.

Is it's a 1.7?

I had one, I liked it, I welded in new arches.

I went to town on the little fucker then sold it for a massive loss.

No EML, but plenty of dog hair. However, I am sure* it will clean up nice.

They use a bit of oil and the previous owner of mine didn't exactly look after it very well. The first time I ripped the arse out of it the oil light came on. Nursed it home and had to put about a 2 litres in it to top it up so beware of that. Other than rust and oil they're great cars.

Apparently this engine will drop straight into an XR3i.

Just saying, like.

I broke a mates puma for parts a week or so back, i like them the 1.7 feels a nippy thing

Posted

I looked into getting one a few years back now but I couldn't find a rust free example so I plumped for its big brother the Cougar instead.

I did hear though that if your good at welding that Peugeot 206 arches can be cut out and used to remedy the problem.

Pumas are the only Ford I'd buy, I've always liked the look of them.

My mate has a Racing Puma in work and it looks amazing.

Yes. 1.7 'Black Edition' so it has leather and all the toys - all of which still seem to work!

Posted

Have had a play with all the toys and everything seems tickety-boo. :)

Found the service history in the glovebox, so will have a thumb through that. Will now doubt chuck a sponge over it at the weekend. Amazing to think that the Sierra has better bodywork than this despite being as good as 20 years it's senior!

You'll enjoy it. It'll be really zippy compared to the Sierra they really do pick up when you rev the nuts off them.

Never however try to remove a door from one. This is what happened when I tried.
