Didn't someone on RR have a pale green 80 wagon like that? The roofrack isn't too bad, but the plates are awful. Would look so much better on some period reflective jobs.

Chris Bonington/Geoff Capes/Brian Blessed lovechild lookalike 'Grizz' had an audi 80 wagon of a similar vintage but it had a different front end arrangement with square headlights.

This'll have to do for now. I'll do the rest at work - I took about 80 photos!

Newark always has a decent selection of cars to perve at. That Avenger sums up the event perfectly. That generation of Audi 80 is essentially a Passat of the same era, VW sold the hatchback and estate versions, while Audi marketed the 2 door and 4 door saloon and estate. Google Audi 50 and witness the madness that went on at Wolfsburg at the time. I think this series of Audi 80 was last of the VAG range to have this level of cynical badge engineering. Is the Maestro a failed Bulgarian kit model?

Love the fat tyres/original spec wheels combo on the blue mk3 Escort.

RHD 2 door opel? Love to know more about this - ex services car perhaps?

Quite probably just an Oirish Import.

Is the Maestro a failed Bulgarian kit model?

Spot on. Bulgarian company Rodacar planned to build the Maestro there after production stopped at Cowley, but sales were slow and the last few hundred CKD kits were shipped back to England and assembled by Parkway Garage, Ledbury. I think they were all R to Y reg and there were a few vans included. Strangely, I've never seen one in Herefordshire, but I did see recently see two of these 'Ledbury Maestros' in one day in the Black Country, I think they were both V reg.

Slim pickings this time of year.

Managed to catch this OMGAE86RWDDRFTWAGONFTW on the M60 near Manchester last week. Sorry about the crappy pic but there was a fair bit of traffic and I didn't fancy being responsible for a multiple pile-up....

It was W-reg, don't think I've seen a pre-facelift estate before.

Hey I think I saw this same car for real when I went to collect the Stanza bits yesterday - was the same location, model and colour.

Yeah it belongs to that Japclassics geezer I think, he's touted it round a few forums previously.

A Fiesta Sandpiper! I haven't seen one of these in years, and imagine they must be almost extinct by now.

I had one as a student, but mine had a non-metallic bottom half (Cordoba Beige). Mine was based on the L spec, but I think the metallic ones may have been based on a GL; probably means you got a radio cassette or something.

I had a gold Fiesta 1.3 Ghia years ago. 40k miles on it, unmarked, early Ghia trim with the straps on the back of the seats and the Glass or Steel pop out sunroof in the bag in the boot. Always wanted supersport rims for it, but ended up with XR2 ones.

Here are the rest then, hopefully something for everyone. Sorry there's a lot of rear views - the sun was a bit strong!

Phew!! :shock::lol:

There was some interesting stuff. My fave had to be the Austin 7 though, it was absolutley grafted and very original. Can imagine some Lincolnshire farmer going to market in it in the 50s! The Acty was in great condition, seen the red Triumph 1300 a few times - it used to be grey and really tatty. Blue Viva was a povvo as they come, £700.

The Nova saloon looks mint but the arches were all ropey, good otherwise though.

That Acty is fab (and the 1300 & 7 indeed).

That Austin 7 is fab indeed! I know the Magnette - it took part in the (appaulingly written) Modified Farina feature for "Classics Monthly" 'Tis all MGB'd up.

There's something very lovely about low spec, unmolested Cortina Mk IIs. Preferably in white, light blue or light green. And with those hub cap embellishers. Love the Wartburg Tourist aswell, not sure the two-tone suits.

FANTASTIC!! That looks like a superb event. The Austin 7 is just wonderful, and so is that stunning Mk 2 Corty. But, I also spy a Corsair convertable and a Consul Classic in the background of some of the pics- they'd be top of my fave list!

AAARGH MY EYES!

Took a bit of a detour home round the country lanes today and was greeted by this monstrosity a couple of village along from mine.

Posted Image

Posted Image

And by coincidence, this along the street. All in the smallest village in the area I might add...and there was a pink Merc SLK in the drive opposite which I suspect could have been something to do with Elvis's lot *shudder*

Ref those vans - A while ago (2 / 3 years ago) There was a sales garage in Keighley that had half a dozen of them for sale. Some in horredous colours. The final one sold about 6 months ago - I seam to remember they were up at £6,000 / £7,000

So much is right about this picture, it somes up everything I stand for.

Give me you shite, your mentally disturbed, your Elvis impersonating masses.

It's bringing a tear to my eye.

Posted

Why would you drive one of those as en Elvis impersonator? I failed to see the Elvis-van connection, but hmm, overweight, silly, ludicrous...

Posted

It would appear that this van could indeed be one of the "Keighley 7" or so....UA is a Leeds registration....

Cool - how many have we got so far? Need to get them all!!

Few phone pics.

Tidy Maestro with unusually very good rear arches. Sid & Doris naturally

Posted Image

Battered Proton hanging on to original wheeltrims for dear life!

Posted Image

P-reg Astra, big deal I hear you ask. But in my defence it was absolutely MINT. Just look at those wheeltrims

Posted Image

Quick snap at junction - lovely piece of street furniture

Surely non-standard trims on the Astra? They were Corsa-issue, n'est pas??Also, that's a serious looking towbar on the Maestro! I can imagine that wheezing up some lake-district pass with an ancient CI Sprite shackled to the arse of it.
