My Dad had one of those Ford Pops. Can’t ever remember it breaking down as such, but the gearbox frequently seemed to jam but we always eventually got going without the help of the AA.

It’s how I learnt to swear at mechanical things that won’t work.

Incredible what turns up in these old photos. A split second later perhaps and some cars might never have been documented... check out the oddball straddling the lanes there. Something sporty and prewar with a 1950s roof perhaps? but hold on, is it actually...

Difficult to be sure. but I'd probably put money on it. According to my Healey chassis spreadsheet (what, you don't have one?) it's chassis D17 or E83

And here's a Letourneur et Marchand-bodied Delage D8, one of maybe four in that broad style

I can zoom a bit further with the original resolution. Does look like NAF199, I'd say.

That will be stored somewhere or possibly exported.

[Further looking reveals on the website of the Society of Automotive Historians:

https://www.thesahb.com/snapshot-75-1950-healey-silverstone/

"Chassis no E83’s first owner was one Ivor Assheton-Salton, and with the Healey he competed in the MCC’s Exeter Trial of 1951, but he did not keep the car for long. The conversion to closed bodywork was carried out in 1953: nicely done and a professional job, and maybe the knowledgeable can tell us which firm’s work this was. NAF199 was returned to its original open two-seater format in 1985, and 13 years later, it was exported to Italy, where it remains today. Since 1998, it has taken part in at least 7 Mille Miglia retrospectives, the GP Nuvolari and many other Italian historic speed and endurance events."

Quite some life that cars had.]
