Photographed in September 1932 by Harold Tomlin for the Daily Herald, this Bugatti is being filled with milk petrol in preparation for the 500 mile race at Brooklands. It will be driven by Count Stanislas Czaykowski, the only foreign competitor and a big fan of milkshakes.

Pratt's motor spirit, delivered in safety churns straight from the cow, or something; all that's missing is one or more of the pit crew smoking a Capstan Full Strength.

Could these entirely be related to the one that's just come up in the eBay tat thread?

I didn't realise a 700 Coupe existed, so I went browsing.

B.M.W. ceased importing the saloon after 1965, although imports of the coupé continued for a few more years. The Consumers' Association described it as "an amazingly quick car, with superb handling, but with an expensive servicing schedule, a poor heater and a truly appalling wiper pattern." ("Which" magazine, July 1965)

The car is an early 50's Packard.

Grille and front bumper indicate it's a 1954, the final year of the 1951-54 body shape.

Really looks like one of those great Gordon Horner drawings to illustrate a 'dangers of Contental tradsmen drivers' article in Autocar circa 1967

Almost looks like a storyboard sketch for a chase sequence in The Sweeney.

Most had little or no training and most were assigned a moth eaten uniform an old outdated rifle with 10 to 20 shots to stop the world's most powerful war machine.

A30/35 being cut up at 10mph by the Jaaag  - note dashboard flower vase and driver's thumb firmly on the horn...

Gordon Horner not an artist I'd heard of...very talented. More info here:

I have watched and recommend the film Kongens nei (The King's Choice). Mainly about the choices made by the King and the government it does show just how           ill-prepared the country was to the threat. They really thought Hitler would keep his word and not attack the country.

I am quite familiar with everything that unfolded in April 1940 and was several things but mostly that Norway is then as now as incompetent as it is possible to become. They were told early on that German warships were heading north and they did little. They also had a mobilization order for the army but it was sent out too late and by mail. There is a good TV series called Allied and Alone (Alliert og alene)  that covers the invasion from those who were to defend the country and it gives me chills I really feel sorry for the poor people who were in this.
