After my GF Xsara Nom Nomed its gearbox she wanted to replace it with another Auto. After having a look around she agreed that GadgetPriceys 900 looked a good car and she liked the colour.

Cue to this morning

Sadly I dont possess the standard Autoshite Casio.

As I set off outside, it was the perfect* weather for collecting a convertible

A visit via Tescos for some breakfast Croissants (they were playing really good trance music instore, not sure it was properly sanctioned but certainly made shopping a lot happier) then on to

An empty Northern Rail train was taken to the big smoke*

Where it was a mere hop onto a shiny Pendilino down to Sandwell. The journey was really boring except for two little kids kicking each other progressively harder in the shins whilst their mum just laughed. Oh what fun, so instead buried my nose in a little light reading

I was met at Sandwell by Dave and deal was done over the red beast. After grabbing directions to the nearest fuel dispenser I was off. Sadly in my excitement I forgot to get a petrol photo.

Through the 50 limit in the roadworks the avg MPG was a blistering

The only other event was seeing a broken down DAF being pushed at Junction 21.

Feeling guilty at betraying the AS Massive, I pulled into the services just to get a pack of polos and the moneyshot

Back home and with an average of 37 MPG I thought it wasnt too bad. Initial impressions are that it is slower than I thought it would be but aside from that a really straight nice car, that has survived 20 years really well.

So I handed over the keys to my missus to have a try and in 1 minute she reversed it into a dry stone wall

Not sure it will buff out!

It also scrapes going over some of the ruts on our farm track, which I will have to think of a way that I can solve that without too much £££.

Nice cars, but dont go round corners too fast or you might actually fall out! (Good ol scuttleshake!)

Very true. Xantia could do the track at 30 no problems. Saab loosens fillings above 10 :)

I'm not a fan of these at all, but still interesting to read about. It's not a bad colour either. Look forward to your OMG OVROAD modifications. Baja-900.

That looks really nice. Always liked these and it looks well in that colour.

Jealous - looks like a good buy

Sadly unless i like arguing with myself then she is real!

I do find the v6 a really odd choice for the car. I was expecting loads of nice torque but that is missing. Sounds is nice at idle mind.

Door pocket was full of water this morning but i think that was because the window was left slightly open.

This might work for you, even though yours is a later convertible.

I'd suggest getting the missus driving lessons and filling the holes in the track, but this could be why I'm single and poor.

I want to congratulate on buying this, but I had designs on it myself so you can fuck right off!

Only kidding, it looks great and was a bargain too I reckon.

Missus has fallen in love with it and demanded that we go for a drive to a country pub with hood down. Who am i to complain :)

Will,

Have a check on the throttle cable linkage. vaguely remember there being a connector you twist to take up any slack in the cable. (This was a few years back, but was something I managed to do so MUST be very easy to locate)

Might be the reason the car is a little lethargic as its not getting full throttle.

However the Sports button always helps things.

Glad the car has found a good home and sounds as though you are going to beat my mileage for this year in the first week of ownership.

Just dont let the GF park it again :-D

Cheers

Cheers Dave will have a look. Otherwise it will just have to stay in Sport. Already clocked up 500 miles in it :)
