mk2 Honda CRX - anyone driven one?

I stopped behind a Vitara, who then proceeded to stick it in reverse and then attempt to mount the front of the car (without looking in the mirror of course).

F*cking Christ!

Fucks sake!

It looks so clean as well. A right bargain for a grand!

Jesus Christ what is wrong with these people? Hope it's easily sortable.

From this angle, the bumper doesn't look too bad other than paint loss? And I'm sure a 2nd-hand bonnet won't break the bank.

I'm sure I remember following one of these many years back, with "2.2 Vtec Ltd" written into the central reflector strip. Was that ever a JDM version? Or did I actually see a Civic on a blonde day?

What a shitter!! I'd try and just get a bit of cash of whoever hit it and stay away from the insurers (trust me, I'm currently involved in a claim and it ain't worth it) to it doesn't get Cat D'd.

Oh pissing hell! You've only got it as well. I really like these, I could see myself buying something like that as a daily driver.

I've had a look - bonnet is warped and the dent has creased it. Bumper has been pushed in so the edges overlap the wings slightly. I've found a white bonnet in Wigan, and I think the bumper can be resprayed - the lady said she would pay for it all, it was a genuine accident and I'm sure we've come close to doing the same. ;)

The car has been so well looked after this is a real shame and it's such a big strike this happening!

Women. Rolls eyes.

That's a real shame man. Looks like a lovely clean car.

Glad it's all fixable, and that you didn't end up with a wheel through the screen!

Respect to the driver who admitted liability - that can be monster aggravation in itself.

She seemed nice tbh, but probably assumed I was driving a £250 jalopy because it's old and I could get a bonnet for five pounds from a scrap yard.

Wait till she realises how much she has to pay out and changes her story.

Happens quite a lot.

As predicted:

Me: "I have been quoted 110 for a new bonnet and repsray" (can only find one in red)

Her: "Hi there - it might be better to put this through the insurance. Can you text me your insurance details and I shall make some enquiries"

Me: "Sorry I've done this before, I bought the car for xxxx and they will write it off and it will then have a cat c and willmake it impossible to sell. I can forward you my details but I am not making a claim for them to write off the repairs and the car"

Her: "OK. Let's negotiate. I must say I am amazed that u paid that sort of money for your car. I'll give you half towars the cost as you were EXTREMELY close my car at the time of the incident and my car is also damaged"

Haven't replied - not sure what to do next, but any option mustn't involve me getting any extra aggravation or stress as I can't deal with it.

Half towards repair costs WTF.As she hit you she is at fault,it will cost her more in excess costs to go through the insurance.

Posted

If you go through the insurance and they write it off, can't you buy the car back for buttons and do the repairs yourself?

Since she's decided to start acting like a massive penis all of a sudden, I'm not sure what other option there is unfortunately.

I don't want a Cat C car. It's fine the way it is, so I'm not going through the insurance.

I've sent her a mesage saying I have dashcam footage and photos of damage of the cars, so take it through the insurance.

She can stick her £110 up her skint arse.

I hate suggesting this, but have you thought about just handing over the hassle to an accident management company?

Some daft bint reversed into my stationary Audi A4 a few years back in her tow bar equipped Rover 400, ripping a hole in the rear pax door skin.

The A4 was a 'P' plate / '96, but in really clean condition and the top of the range 2.8V6 Quattro.

She was initially apologetic and we swapped details, but when I called the mobile number she'd given me to get her insurance bumpf, the person on the other end clamied he'd 'bought the phone off her yesterday' and had no way of getting in touch with her.

I was in the same quandary - My insurers might have written it off...So I called a firm called Helphire, and with only the bint's reg plate, they worked out & contacted her insurance company (she hadn't told them) and started a claim on my behalf.

Ended up getting the car sorted at an Audi dealership's bodyshop (very posh) and didn't have to involve my insurers at all.

Worth thinking about...?

I agree it all looks a bit suspect - These vampires make their cash by arranging a courtesy car for you at a monstrous premium, and charging the OP's insurance company for it.

This drives premiums up for all, and if there's any issues with payment from the insurers, they could in theory come after you for it.

(Helphire did sell an 'insurance policy' for a tenner, that mitigated against you footing the bill).

That's why I said I hated suggesting it - It did work for me, though... I'd have been £6-700 out of pocket otherwise, or would've had to have claimed on my own insurance, with the added joy of loaded premiums for the next 5-6 years.

If you know her insurance details, I think you can do the leg work yourself - Call them up, and inform them of what's happened, their client's reluctance to play ball, and how you're considering using an accident management company.

Most insurers will want to avoid the AMC route... :-)

When my duffer neighbour whacked my old Pickup we went through the insurance, but instead of writing it off they made me a cash offer to get it repaired myself instead of going through their approved bodyshop system, I'm not sure if this is the way they deal with older cars now.

Might be worth asking anyway?

I think its called a payment in lieu and I had that once on an old Audi 80 I had . Paid 300 for the car , woman backed into it with a landy nato hitch and dented bonnet. Insurance gave me 600 quid and keep the car . Sold car 6 months later (still with dent ) for 350. Winner !

And it didn't go on the total loss register

^ this, we had similar with the Avensis earlier this year, other party's insurance company sent a cheque, car kept, no marker. There's a thread on that somewhere but similar circumstances, other driver admitted fault at scene, then refused to give insurance details; her insurance company said they would settle @ 50% but inexplicably gave me full value of the car, must have been down to the ace accident diagrams I did (including Google Streetview inserts).

After a few heated exchanges via text, at which point I said 'FU give me your insurance details and I'll make a claim against you - I have evidence, etc blah blah', she went all hostile and blamed me (lol) for the accident and said she was going through her insurance. She texted two days later saying she would pay me 100 as her insurer said they would write her car off and she would lose. LOL.

And then when I didn't reply she said if I don't reply within 24 hours she would consider the matter closed.

I'm still going to make her pay £110.
