Lankytim Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Hi all, I've been asked to find a home for a friends 1.9td Xantia. He bought it from me a year or so ago but has replaced it with a HDi Xantia so it's now surplus to requirements. It's an early one with the Citroen badge on the bonnet, M reg but it's not a sinker. Apparently that makes it pretty rare. Ok, here's THE FACTS. 190k odd on the clock.Blue.Bad paint on tailgateCracked front bumper by numberplate (nothing bad TBH)Towbar.Starts, runs and drives GR9 but doesn't like being left a few days. When it's been left it needs a few churns to get going, suspect injector leak off pipes or something.Bodywork tidy apart from aforementioned bumper and tailgate, i think there's the odd dink too but nothing to write home about.Interior tidy. No rust that I can think of, rear door shuts are MINTOLA. MOT until the end of December.Tax until end of June.I *think* it has a bosch pump, infact i'm 99% sure, I'll check. £225, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. PM me for contact details. Here's the only pic I can find of it, I'll see if I can get any more. Partridge and Micrashed 2
dollywobbler Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Gah! WUD LIKE 2 MEET! 20 years old, sensibly located and a nice colour. Curse my lack of funds! eddyramrod 1
KruJoe Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 If I wasn't up-to-the-nuts in R8's, I'd be on this. These early ones are officially ON now, cla$$ic insurance friendly, and veg compatible. Bargain price too with that T&T.Glad to be of assistance* Tim, good luck with it.
fordperv Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 That is a bargainous lump of dervness, if I needed a motor I'd be on this like a tramp on chips
hairnet Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 first quote was 3884!!!!!! 2nd was 895 i pay 66 for a bike thatll do 130 mph and 5 secs to 60 are they mad would like a xant again
Pillock Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 That's a hot mutha! BTW, what's a "sinker"? And is it a good thing or bad?
Lankytim Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 A sinker refers to the very early Xantias which would sink down to the bump stops when the engine was turned off, later ones had anti sink valves fitted.
eddyramrod Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 When you're in need of a cheap urgent daily, there's nothing... someone should jump on this, it looks like a total bargain! Even I like Xantias, since the first (and only) time I drove one, shortly after launch.
Lankytim Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 If someone doesn't buy this this INSTANT i'm going to weigh myself in. Wilko220, dugong and eddyramrod 3
Station Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Was looking for a Xantia at the start of this week. This has a bonus long t&t, a tow bar and not being 300 miles from my house.
Tetleysmooth Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Shrewsbury is 226 miles from me. Bugger. Aldo 135 came down from Edinburgh to the edge of London over the weekend, to buy my Grand Voyager. Then drove it back.Mega journey.Shame on the rest of us. eddyramrod, sporty-shite, KruJoe and 2 others 5
Lacquer Peel Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Good to know how far this is from your respective houses, lads. I wish I'd seen this earlier, before I bought a bloody Czech Polo development hack last weekend. I would have travelled from the Highlands and made a trip out of it, it's so cheap.
Cavcraft Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 If anyone further north is interested I could probably collect this and bring it to Chester on a Saturday if it helped. Just lob me train fare and fuel for it and off we go. KruJoe 1
Lacquer Peel Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Fresh veg oil 90p a litre at big Tesco stores. Cavcraft 1

Lacquer Peel Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I'd love to, but I need to be sensible just now. BUMP FOR A BARGIN.
gadgetgricey Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Just be careful buying this.... They are really great cars. You start off with a TD, realise they are fantastic, and then "upgrade" to an Hdi.Then if you are really sad (like me) you sell that one and buy a chipped 110 Hdi ...... If you are not careful you then also get a V6 Xantia as well for the weekends. Dave
KruJoe Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 And if anyone further north than Shitefest'13 buys it, stop off here for a brew and a £5 tankful of processed WVO.Cheap as chips car, fuel cheap as the chips fried in it. Lacquer Peel 1
Lankytim Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 You sell a tankful of WVO for a fiver?? I was up your way last week too, bah. Anyway... OMG 356 WATCHERS AND NO BIDS STOP WATCHING MY FOR SALE AD, JUST BID, STOP MESSING ME ABOUT e.t.c.
KruJoe Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 You sell a tankful of WVO for a fiver?? Haha, it's not even mine! It's our Will's. But I'd gladly subsidise it if a Scotoshiter comes down for the car and wants to call in. Will might not want any more for it anyway, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it! Gizza shout next time you're going to be about Tim, family welcome too.
Lankytim Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 I'll remember that, thanks. I find my XM runs better on WVO than fresh shiny SVO, I just can't get the waste stuff anywhere though!
hairnet Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 is this still about got someone sniffing for cheap car
