Well it's 15 hours to go until I pick up the eBay £600 535 v8 Bmw. Off to a good start in that all I've done is go out to dinner, drink Coors and watch Valerie Leon films.

 

Tommorow will see us braving a minicab to town, quaffing a wetherspoons breakfast then saddling up Cross Cunty trains finest emu to peterboghorror.

You'll get better than 20 mpg - I can get nearer to 30 on a run, and maybe slightly more if I drive all careful like.

Back home, 24.3 mpg average. 1/8 tank in real money. Drives like a brand new car. Just a couple of bumper scuffs and a badly fitted sporty air filter to pick fault with. Absolutely chuffed ! A few pics if I can get the laptop to play ball.

What else did you expect? These E39's are proper cars and built well too. I know a BMW mechanic who tells me these are far better than the current new BMW fleet.

Mine has that, bloody PITA on pot holed side roads that we have round here and goes through control arm bushes like hot cakes on a cold winters morning, genuine BMW bush kits aint cheap, and the cheap aftermarket ones literally fail a mile down the road.
