Shite colours

I don'y know if any body has started a thread about this yet and if they have I'm sorry ( read  too lazy to search all the threads!) if I'm repeating someone.

Anyhoo my question is can you get the shite colours ( BL was the main culprit in the 70's ) that were two a penny years ago now on a new car? and have you seen any?

I'll start off with an easy one: Jaguar/Daimler Sable very similar to the new Fiat 500 cappucino colour.

Campucino?

Sounds suspiciously like the god of all colours to me. I do remember a clean beige Maestro 1.3 that looked good enough to drink. Or was that just a mirage in the Desert Sand? [boom tish]

Brown will make a comeback - just wait. Fiat will pursue its wimmins-base with chocolate 500s. Wimmins like chocolate.

Can you buy a new car in Maestro beige? Can't think of one yet.

Most of the shite colours were non metallic IIRC. I saw a ford fuckus in met brown. Looked O.K but can you get one in non met brown?

My 1979 Rover (Platinum Silver) is pretty much exactly the same colour as my 2010 Skoda (Capuccino Beige).

If brown is the new silver, will we start getting brown police cars soon?  Will we call them wholemeal jam sandwiches?

I'm hoping Harvest Gold will make a come back.

IMHO whoever was responsible for mixing Harvest Gold and releasing it on the public... his grandparents should have been drowned at birth.  I think it's beyond vile.

But that's just my opinion, others may be available.

Gold cars are generally gopping. We had a gold Granda and a gold Astra. Both fxxking awful colours. Don't know why they were bought but must have seemed O.K at the time! The only person who likes gold cars is Mr.Goldfinger and look what happened to him!!

Saw a new Audi today, A5 or something fastback wannabe shite, in dark dog turd metallic, horrible.

I'd like to say you wouldn't be able to give the bloody thing away, but people will buy the ugliest shite these days, Fiat have form in arse ugly but have you seen the Fiat 500L...Jesus Wept.

My old boss had a Land Crab in Limeflower...i painted my white and rust Land Crab with ''Repaint'' in red...that looked even more shite than it did in rustywhite, never did that again.

My Dad has a gold mk.1 Focus, and to be honest I don't think it's that bad

No one putting pictures up?

Easiest way to find terrible colours is to search Austin Maxi.

Or you could try Talbot Horizon

The greens on those Horizons look very pleasing... to me at least.  I'd want a different (larger) car under the paint though!

As for the Maxis, well all I can do is agree.  I was lucky with mine, it was white.  Mostly.

I used to see a few of  beige MINIs driving around. It wass like BMW stumbled across a few dusty vats of beige paint in Cowley after Austin Rover Group stopped using it in the late 1980s.

Never mind, here's Olympic Blue on a (then) nine-year-old Granada, with a familiar face, age 26...

Junkman: excellent work, either or both would be ideal, thank you!

Fiat are actually making a big deal about shite 70s colours for the 500: they have range of 5 "retro" colours they call "Colour Therapy":

  • New Age Cream (cold tea beige)
  • Tech House Grey (battleship grey)
  • Cool Volare Blue (baby blue)
  • Pasadoble Red (just red really)
  • Countrypolitan Yellow (egg yolk)

I suppose this is a bit too self-aware and ironic to count as genuinely shite though.

Saw a lovely looking square nose mini 1275 in limeflower with 10 inch black alloys of some description shod with yoko race rubber this weekend. It sat very pretty in a non contrived way. Should of got a pic but was too busy being soaked to the bone pushing a mountain bike uphill soon after realizing that my back still ain't up major off road abuse.
