Anyone had any dealings with this dude who seems to shift a lot of ridiculously overpriced tackle on retro rides?, you know the one, seventy odd grand for a splitty with a write up like war and fucking peace. photographed in a room that's cleaner than my undies. I've been tempted to send him a message a few times and give him a bit of shit but the gear he has seems outstanding, genuine low mile cosworths etc that always sell...... Is it just jealousy that he pisses me off? Is he just some kind of doctor ( teh doctor?) with maybe a team of expert valeters minting cars up and adding twenty large to the price? Part of me wants to be like him, part of me wants to kick his fucking head in.

Fair play I say.

We all roll our turds in glitter when it comes to making cash from a sale. Personally I've never been that good at it so therefore respect those who are.

I've done a couple of jobs for him, nice bloke doing well

Good luck to him I say. His adverts aren't as enjoyable to read as the Doctor's but his cars are really lovely, and he's not snobbish by what he sells either - that early, beige Maestro van he had looked amazing.

He buys at one price, sells at another, just like any retail business. It's just in his case it takes more bravery, skill and hard work. I'm not sure what the issue is.

Contrary to popular belief the cars he sells are not his, well a couple of them are but most aren't, he's basically an agent with a white room who sells cars for clients.

He's good at what he does and apparently he's a decent chap too. Good luck to him I say, I could spend all day looking at his photos.

But a VW camper and a Maestro 700 are two different things.

Surely selling one of those Type II things would be better on a specialist site instead of a site that features chopped sprung, matt black pineappled AUDI 80/VWPassat/E30 stuff

Or a rotten Ford Escort or Vauxhall Astra if you can't stretch to the YO YO YO DUB STEP INNIT Fuckwittery that follows German stuff.

He's got that burgundy 1st Gen Civic coming soon that's only done 9000 miles and was recently on ebay for ages for £8500, i'm guessing the owner is now paying him to advertise it for him.

Just for Parsetridge I'm going to set up a brown room and photograph rotten old Toyotas with a box brownie.  I will then photograph these photographs with a 2 megapixel camera, upload them onto my PC before taking a further photograph with a iPhone I've nicked and uploading that photo to eBay in any direction other than the correct way up and title the listing "Car" with the description "Car" and a starting bid of £12.59 with a reserve of £400.

I will then come on Autoshite after four hours and complain at how wounded I am that nobody on here bought it before having a punch up with my brother in the car park of the local working men's club.

He sells some quality old and intresting stuff, doesn't go overkill with his descriptions and whilst some people who have made major coin buy up old Astons and Ferraris....some also like to buy up the best more mundane everyday cars of their youth for their private collections....for which if was in the position I'd glady pay..and I think this is the market he and the Doctor successfully target. If the cars are finding good homes and at the prices they feel are fair and correct and are prepared to pay...well good luck to them I say.

Like 4 Star Classics - they take the car off the owner, really clean them up and whatever, and then sell them at pretty much maximum profit price. I doubt he sells them at that price tbh.

The photos are lovely, but I think white light does hide a lot of imperfections.

I think they used to be or are part of 4 Star Classics, I have a classic car dealer friend who bought a VW camper of him recently who was telling me about the place.

Yeah fair play to him I suppose, as I said in the first post I"m "we'll jell" of his stuff, Ive always wondered who he is and what his story is, does he have a premises? Salesmen? Garage facilities? Or is he just a middleman? Fucking expensive tho

He's got a nice modern unit on a biz park in Peterborough. The last thing I moved for him was deffo his to sell, though I understand as above he also sells on clients behalf - like The Doctor.

The Skoda Estelle he recently sold wasn't as 'mint' as he made out though, dead paint, an engine that needed a fair bit of work doing, and the back seat is fraying like all Estelles seem to do. Daveskud did a load of work on it to get it right.

Can't 100% remember if this was him, but I have a strong feeling it is, but a guy was selling a datsun he'd bought from KGF and used one of the pictures they originally took in his ad, but was forced to take them down because they started bitching about it, can't understand why it would matter myself.

Don't really see what the problem is, it is a free world.

The value of a car is dictated by the amount someone would pay for it, nothing else.

Let him do it all I care, as long as it isn't forced in my face.

Sadly, I cannot agree.  It's not even the worst thread this week.  :-(

It's got some competition on that score.

The phrase 'caveat emptor' holds infinite shades of meaning.

That said, unless and until proven otherwise, the bloke's just making a living.  Achieving top dollar on shiny motors isn't in itself a crime, last I checked...  ;)

I've got no problem whatsover with this bloke or teh Doctor. Good luck to them I say.

+1

I have more of an issue with the eejits who sell dangerous cars to unenlightened punters for stupid profits
