Anywhere still selling Leaded Petrol?

Popped into my head today that ten or so years ago there was a company (Bayford Thrust?) licenced to sell proper 4 star in the UK, and they did so at selected garages for an eye-watering price.

Just wondered - is anywhere still doing it? AFAIK there were never any garages stocking it in Scotland - none that I ever saw on my travels anyway

AFAIK there's a place in Holmes Chapel that still does it. A bit of a journey for you, mind.

'The Cottage' garage, just off the A50 near Derby towards Willington & Melbourne sold it the last time I checked.

It was either £2 or £2.10 a litre.

It's almost cheaper to bung additive in at that price.

Gandertons in Buckingham have a sign in the window saying they sell leaded 4-star but there's no price so I guess it won't come cheap. For added retroness they still do attended service too.

There's an independent just down the road from my parent's in Wrexham that sells the lot - parafin, red diesel, 4* leaded.

As much as I would like to treat my car to a tankful, I can't help but wonder how long it's been sat in the storage tanks. I mean, the demand isn't going to be great, so it could be a bit stale.

Anybody know if garage proprietors have to do checks on this sort of thing? I'd be pretty pissed off I'd just brimmed the tank, paying nearly double the price of regular unleaded, and it ran like a bag of shit.

Perhaps one for the 'stupid question' thread, but... I know that oil companies still make aviation spirit, which has fuckloads of lead in it, but do they also make proper, leaded four star petrol ?

Garages probably just put the tetra ethyl addative into it, and make it up?

There's a place selling 4 Star near Fakenham, Norfolk and also one near Aylesbury, Bucks.

Piston engined aircraft use 100LL, the use of which in cars is regarded as well illegal innit.  It is mucho spenner.

Where's that please? I know the (now Shell, formerly D.A Roberts) garage at Whitchurch sell red, I think due to the proximity of the canal.

On the subject of stale fuel, I found that when I filled the tank at rural garages in France with super unleaded that the cars performance would suffer significantly but is fine when the fuel is bought in major towns and on motorways. I came to the conclusion that small independents didn't sell much so it was going off due to the fact that nearly everyone in outback France drives a diesel.

Smithy View Garage, Chester Road, Little Acton, Wrexham. Just off the A483 bypass.

Saw a garage in Lewisham last night that sold 4 star leaded at £1.70 per litre . Seemed a bit incongruous , can't imagine that many classics around there , perhaps it's better flor firebombs.
