WOW-WEE worth the 5k start then

Yup. That's about right. Not that expensive for one at all. I've seen properly knackered Mk1 Mex shells fetch close to that, and that's got a cage, fuel tank, steel bubble arches and bits with it.

If I was going to build a Mk1 rally car, I'd be looking closely at that with a view to chucking a bid at it.

Everyones crazy but me....

Put it this way, I've been offered over £2.5k for the shell of my Mk2, and that's got no floor at the moment.

Was offered close to a grand for the front window quarterlights as mine are opening tinted ones and not available in the UK.

It's simple, if you want to win at classic rallying you either spend £80k on an old 911, or £50k on a Mk1 / 2 Escort. Not much else has a hope of winning.

Must say I reckon that would sell what with it's Mexico stickers an all, not to me mind.

Need to get this off my chest as I've been harbouring hate for too long, I THINK BUBBLE ARCHES ARE CACK on mk1's. Feel soo much better now :D .

Just can't see the attraction in those VW things. The Curate in my family's church has one, but he built it himself. I've had a good look at it, and he's done a smashing job over 6 years, but even he agrees the prices, like the above, are nutty.

Posted

They appeal to me and if I had plenty of money I'd probably shell out for one. But not that one. He's asking a top price for a job it doesn't look like's even been started yet and he wants monthly payments to begin now.

Ha ha!

Correct me if I'm wrong but even Carcraft don't ask for payments to start (excepting deposit) six months before you can drive away.

The only attractiont to me would be a bay window one in decent but far from concours condition with a proper ride hight and steel wheels.

Just £1150 for this 11-yr old fiat uno van, WHY HAS NO ONE SNAPPED IT UP? The lad will also swap it:

Open to swaps..... i am looking for a 2002 car onwards with reasonable millage and full mot (preferably something smart looking with good load capacity with the seats down and some tax)

Sounds like a great swap that!

I know this "barn find" lunacy seems to have got everyone by the bollocks, where pigeon shit is more valuable than paint, but what is anyone bidding on here, an identity?

Can you spot a straight part anywhere? Me neither, Just where do restorers start with such a project, or is it a triggers broom?

Is it me or does that Full black leather look like vinyl?

Posted

It will be vinyl, they never came with leather

Posted

That's because it is vinyl, Maybe I'm doing it wrong, Maybe i should take some photos of mine in front of a church and put a price tag of £5000 up for it.

This car has had one careful owner from new who has loved and cherished it and named it Harold.

Seriously, shut up with this shit you fuckknuckle.

He could have called it Gertie and regularly entered it in drift competitions for all we fucking know.

The 120y's are only outside the church as thats where the owners have just been buried

HOW MANY MORE CHANCES WILL THERE BE TO BUY A "NEW DISCOVERY" ISO GRIFO

What? I will take the old Discovery mate, your welcome to this pile of fossil.

I might add......

It does not have its GLASS, HOOD, WHEELS, ENGINE, or TRANSMISSION...

'

( A MATCHING NUMBERS CHEVROLET 327/350 ENGINE BLOCK & "Borg Warner" T-10 TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN ACQUIRED AND WILL BE OFFERED TO THE AUCTION WINNER AT AN ADDITIONAL COST)...

So your basically bidding on a log book and a pile of shit on a completely fucked trailer, sounds gr999.9999 for £25 grand to me. What is wrong with that?
