Skelly's had a presence in Scotland since the 70s!

That passat has to be a new world record for hopeless optimism!!!! £24k for a bread and butter Passat? We might as well abandon this thread as it will never be beaten!!!

Imported Opel Kadett A for only £7800! Makes me wonder what mines worth!

Wheels look dreadful on that. That's got to be a bit optimistic surely? Half that might be closer to the real value but still top end. All depends on if the "right" byuer turns up with the money. Perhaps the owner normally deals with Fords?

Playing devils advocate it sounds like he's put a fair bit of work into that. If I ever finish my Silvia I'd probably place an absurdly high value on it too.

Yes... but I suspect that some of the 25 bidders might be typing from the same keyboard, as I find it hard to believe that you would be able to find people stupid enough to bid that up to that figure since a new defender can apparently be bought for £19,755.Which brings me to my second point.... how much is the reserve  .

It's obviously all a joke but won't they get humped for fees?

This.

I also suspect he's either doing it to annoy a mate (hence plastering the mobile number all over the place) and it also seems to be a dig at other listings on eBaY.

In the comedy stakes it's about as funny as a fucking bus crash.

Am i way out with the times or does £1800 for a Jetta 1.3 with illegal plates seem a lot of money?.

Maybe the K-sealies engine it seems to have makes it worth the extra £1700?

a 24v non-turbo diesel seems mental, you've gone to loads of bother to increase airflow capacity, then not bothered fitting an 'air provider', whats the point?

Military use in the Falklands.... having seen the abuse some of the landies/staff cars get I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole, let alone £4k!

They gain a fair bit of power over the 10v, something like 20bhp. Mercedes were very tardy in offering turbocharged diesels in RHD markets, the first one was in 1996 I think, nearly 15 years after their first LHD turbodiesel.

According to Wikipedia, the 12v engine is 113bhp and the 24v is 136, which I think is quite respectable for a non-turbo diesel engine - it's not far off what you'd get from a standard 3-litre Essex V6.

That's insane. My boss bought this 130 which had been restored with a galvanised chassis, new bulkhead, etc. for £5k. I suspect it was a bit of a bargain as far as Land Rovers go mind you.

A 130 like that is a specialist tool too, so could understandably command a premium.

It appears that the prices of 'traditional' landrovers are on an upward spiral as seen with "old skool" fords and fashionable VW's.

I can't understand it, £5000 appears to buy you a pretty rough defender, why when you could have for the same money a very smart SII Discovery... I know disco's are not without their faults but you get a much more refined, useable vehicle that will still do mud when required...

And like the Fords/VWs (and Minis) they all get "customised" so they all end up looking exactly the same.
