Hmm, a tidy Rekord. Must be pretty freakin' rare. However we know rare doesn't mean valuable. Also it's got a biffed wing, that an idle insurance assessor would slap it on a cat C/D for.

Yours for only £4000 RESERVE NOT MET.

I can see that attracting fuck all bidding activity.

IT'S ONLY GONE A GOT A FUNKING BID ON IT!
Sold for £5001!!!!11!, Someone must be taking the piss right???!!1
oh quelle surprise, here it is back on the bay.

I was in Malta recently and got talking to a Taxi Driver about Escort's and the insane prices they go for. He had just sold his Mk1 to someone from Scotland for £2000.When I told him that if it was in good nick it would probably appear on eBay for about £20,000 as soon as it gets off the boat he was both gobsmacked and more than a bit annoyed.

THE CAR WAS RE-SHELLED WHEN IN MALTA DUE TO ACCIDENT DAMAGE , NOT ALL ORIGINAL PARTS HAVE BEEN RETAINED

Wonder if its a 1300 popular plus shell?

Starting bid: £27,500.00

i like the question about it lol

Q: if its been reshelled how is it a GENUINE!! RS1800...its a 1300 with a BDA

A: Hi where dose the 1300 come from ????

Posted

Would anybody (even with mental issues) pay 27k for an old fucking escort?

Posted

Did the RS1800 have the same shell as the standard cars? It's not even that tidy. The bumpers are squint, there looks to be corrosion on the rear valance and there are patches of primer. Relatively minor issues but a £27000 car shouldn't need work.

Seems that RS models had a strengthened shell. Seller is a bit vague about admitting what shell was used other than saying it has all the strengthening bits. So probably a 1300 shell with a few plates tacked on it

I think I need to forget about my day job and start buying up old Mk1 & Mk2 Escorts.I watched the show Generation Kill the other night and noticed they shot the shit out of a MK2 Escort - bet they didn't know how much they are selling for on eBay etc...

Somewhere, in the internets, there's a Scottish guy absolutely wetting himself telling the tale of how he screwed over some Maltese taxi driver and made an £18,000 profit in a few days. I bet you 'any money'.

£4,975? Presumably a detuned US-spec engine, extra weight and ugliness in the bumper department and dead A/C are worth paying extra for...

but upwards of 3 grand for something that's no doubt quite unpleasant to drive any distance despite looking pretty is a bit hard to justify.

"Have recently seen another peugeot identical to mine but with higher milage going for £3495, so please consider this when bidding"

Where do these people come from? The last two identical cars on ebay went for £500 & £600, and one was the later model.

re. the 3.0 GLX"For example: this car uses approximately 1/4 tank of petrol to 55 miles, which is the same as a 1.4L renault megane scenic."Eh? Is he saying after 55 miles the fuel tank will be 75% full? Equating to a 220 mile range? From a 70l tank? 220 miles from 15.4 gallons? 14.3 mpg?A THREE LITRE estate using as much fuel as a 1.4 small car.My 528i will use approximately 1/4 tank to 135 miles (because the first 50 miles is beyond "full" on the gauge and I was coasting down-hill all the way) which is the same as a Daewoo Matiz (maxed out in reverse all the way up the M1)Knig Cnut

Yes, I emailed him on that very point, congratulating him for getting 14mpg out of his 406 (not that that's likely to be far away). he'll probably email some abuse back.

I think you've confused the intention of this thread, unless you think £155 is a stupid price to pay for a solid gold autoshite Renault 12From the first page...

Whats the most comically overpriced old car you can find on eBay?
