Jeepers. 1.6? GET ME TO THE HOSPITUL QUICKA!!

I've personally got a hankering for a Leyland Daf 400 V8 ambulance at the moment. Or a riot van. Hmmmm. V8 van.

What's the score with those LDV V8s, what tune are the engines in? High-BHP SD1 or high-torque RR?

The old Merseyside Police ones had NCK Racing motors in, or at least the one I bought the engine from had an NCK engine.

Definately quicker than a Range Rover on their day, even when armoured up and carrying a load of riot squad officers. Quite probably not much between a Riot Sherpa and an SD1.

Standard LDV one is probably detuned to about 35 bhp, but torquey as..

Nah. Merseyplods were nowhere near as quick as that. A Mk4 Cortina 2.3 S, maybe in Stratos Silver, could easily outrun one even on a straight piece of tarmac like, say, Leasowe Road on the Wirral.

They did sound nice though. Many of them were automatic IIRC.

I witnessed a Sherpa V8 on the quarter mile at Bug Jam years ago. I think it did three runs, struggled to get under the 30 second limit on the timing gear, then sheared an engine mount. Hardly mind-bogglingly fast, that one :)

1986 Porsche 928S

It's spend the last 5 years in a lock up with the windows and roof open but as it's a Porsche it must be worth £3000!

I reckon that's a list of reasons not to buy it displayed in the windscreen.

I had a gander at one of Strathclyde Police's V8 Sherpas in the old auction site at Graham St; most surprised to see a pair of Stromberg 97's rather than the SU's. Their motors were poking out Land Rover power, far less Rangey power.

Still want a riot van tho'.

1987 Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia

Valued by scottish auto assessors as £3500

Bull shit!

Discribed by S.A.A as a one off car the like of which, with this mileage,is very unlikly to ever turn up again

This S.A.A sound like a bunch of twats!

Has personal number plate incuded in sale, value of over a £1000

Right so E683 BEV is now a private plate?, half of the cars in Essex had BEV or KEV number plates back in the 80's!

£3.000 cash for quick sale

Fuck off!

I wonder what the Escort seller would say when presented with a picture of this one:

Clearly identical and in the same condition, which kind of voids his understanding of that Escort as unique.....

Its like one of my dads customers at the garage who had his Riley 4/72 nicked. He couldn't understand why anyone would want to take it, didn't have the heart to tell him why...
