what is HERO?

The Tagora boys drove all the way from Munich, too.  Nice work fellas.  They have some more pictures (and text if you can read German) on their blog at www.altefranzosen.de ('old French things').

I don't think they have time for a black tie dinner, they do 1300-1400 miles in 3 1/2 days with special stages like this in between.

I have a funny feeling that this Tagora is our own pshome's.

Actually, this is one of my Tagora's. Did all the preparation work but then had to let a friend take my place because of some medical issues... damn these doctors! .

 

Michael and Clemens do a good job, its the first Rally they are driving. Currently at place 34 out of 73. More than twenty cars already out with mechanical failures or drivers gave up, must be all the 911's i guess.

 

There are actual two black tie dinners, one the evenening before and the price giving dinner after. Had to buy a smoking and stuff just for that, my wife thought i may have some sort of mental desease when the package arrived from "www.mysmoking.de". Will hopefully get good use next year.

Entry fee would be £25, the 'black tie dinners' would take place in the roughest pub of Jaywick, and every single competitor would end up crossing the finish line on the back of a recovery truck !

Forgot to say. Autotesting Tagora is bloody brilliant stuff. These events are actually quite good fun to watch.

Why pay the 2500 buckaroos. Just find out where they start and follow them to john o groats like a bad smell. Camp in the car at the end of the stages. Job done.

Great Tagora pics! It looks like harder work, but id much prefer the fun of lobbing an old saloon about than the hassle and expense of those sportscars.

 

Like mr fraud's idea of the autoshite version- a dead heat would give victory to whoever has the most MOT advisories

We could probably do this on an old industrial estate with a set of liberated* cones for the cost of a few dosen bacon rolls. It actually sounds like a genuinely brilliant idea.

yeah, the £2500 entry fee will put quite a few off, apparently they do have a team of mechanics following the cars around to help out if/when they break down. They also had at least 3 new cars (guessing they were hire cars) going around ahead and behind the teams checking the route, dropping off and collecting the timing gear which will all need fuel and paying for. And it also covers some of the accommodation so I can see where the money goes.
