You won't find much of a GPZ900 for under a grand. What you want is a nice GPZ500, like the one I could sell you.

Can be had for what it cost me. Very cheap classic. The plan was a winter project, but its beyond my capabilities and my lad isnt interested sadly. He wants my car.

Off out for a few hours. Tiff, its a CB650 1982 USA Import. Its all there and was running before being dismantled "for ease of transport" :?

It has a log book and more Zorsts than you can shake a shitty stick at.

SHITEHAWK!!!

I really fancied a Africa Twin when I was first on the lookout for a big trailbike though you'll be lucky to find one for a grand which is the main reason I don't have one either. I reckoned an old Triumph Tiger would be just about doable though fancied a bit more off road action than it would reasonably offer,so ended up getting a Dominator. Great engines in those trumpet triples mind, a real good compromise between low down stomp and top end wizz.

The Dommy is perfect for me as it's great around town and not too shabby in the dirt whilst being capable of distance work too if need be. Big singles aren't for everyone mind as they can feel a bit agricultural. Smoothest of the lot has to be the bmw f650, the pucker off road ones seem to command a bit more money though the other smaller front wheeled versions can be had for a bag. New one here needing a poss head gasket http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-BMW-F650GS-BLUE-please-read-note-/261312320630?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3cd76d9476

thats the facelifted version worth 7-800 cos of the gasket which is easy to sort (250 lmfao)

Thanks for all the replies folks! I'll fill you in with a little more info so not to wast your time..

RF900's- love 'em but they give me mega cramp in the calfs (Calves?) Pegs are far too high for me.

ZZR400/600/1100. One of my fave bikes and would be interested. started off on a 400, then a 600, then the 1100 that took me to Germany last year.

Dominator- had one and it was good. Not autobahn friendly though, 90 mph is about it.

Pegaso- Went all over Europe on one, brilliant bike, and sortable in a service station even if the engine has to come out.............would have another, better than the BMW version, move valves!

Not a Honda fan TBH..only really the CBR1000F or Pan would interest me.

Youse are all laffin at me cos I'm after a cheap GPZ- They are out there but I've never been quick enough. 500 is a bit small..Missed a nice DR650 RSE today on Gumtree.. 650 notes and looked good. Bugger.

I really love cars but just can't get bikes at all. It's no downer on those of you who do but my brain just does divide by zero when it comes to them.

Cracking the throttle open on 147BHP on two wheels has to be experienced to be understood....

Five years ago I had a bad smash. Not Barry Sheen bad, but bad enough.

The pain in my shoulder and arm from the titanium plates and screws still wakes me at night.

I need three more operations at least and there is no guarantee of ever getting full use of my left arm again

But I'd get back on a bike again in a blink.

I really need to see some of Europe on two wheels next year. I was thinking of down to southern Spain and into Gibraltar and then maybe a ferry to Tangier, a couple of days debauchery in north Africa and then back up to Rotterdam via France and Germany before getting the ferry to Hull. Anyone here ever done a similar trip?

Not South, but east, to central Poland. Was an...erm...experience. Go abroad every year but mostly Germany.

I once rode from Belgium to Beirut (yes, it's one of my favourite places on Earth, if you haven't gathered that by now) via Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey. Then on to Damascus, Amman, Aqaba, Suez, Cairo, Tubruq, Ajdabya, Sirte, Tripoli, Tunis. From there I took a lorry ferry to Palermo and rode all the way up the length of Italy, through Austria and Germany back to Belgium.

I did that in 1994 with an ex-WoD 1922 Indian Scout 101. Does that count?

/\ I don't like the way the word epic is used to describe any thing these days but I have to say that is an epic trip junkman and also the reason I am after a bigger bike myself is for continental trips. Won't be up to your standard though.

Impressive, Junkman.
