19 Years of Tin Snail - Back to normality

It's a bloody lovely trailer. Tows superbly, and has fantastic, simple-to-use ramps - though one is a bit sticky. Lovely fold-up jockey wheel too. I should have found out what make it is really.

Brian James Trailers according to the picture, not sure what make the one I have hired is but I can feel it all the time even when empty!

Looks like an A4. See my link, above. Mine, my mates and one I have hired a few times all tow like a dream, and are all Brian James.

They are the best out there, imo.

/End of hijack, DW. Get the garage tidied up and crack on!

Wow. It's far lighter than I calculated! I was way, way within the limits of the RAV then - probably not even a ton. Thanks for finding that.

I'm doing nothing today. After the NEC for three days at the weekend, and 300 crippling miles in the RAV today, I feel like not moving for a while. I also need to let the paint cure a bit more.

I'd noticed my first error and corrected as you were replying. It wasn't deliberate!

My favourite non standard one was at the London to Brighton a few years ago. A harlequein with every panel a different colour, each seat and door card was different too. It looked very smart and was owned by a painter whose son was an upholstery specialist.

..

I have the same challenge with what colour or colours to paint my Ami super.. ? Despite being a certified ol' giffer..,  the 'original' beige isn't my scene..

issues I face are that the panels are dented and so a nice paint job would just show them up even more.  so I'm considering satin finishes and non geometric applied vehicle graphics ...something like the roof in Welsh sheep's wool !

I think the 2cv is actually much easier because its bulbous wings & separate headlamps are already 'cuter looking'.. and it's doors are an unadorned flat canvas just crying out for a 'splash' of fun.  Personally, I've always most liked the 2cv in  'white with green wings' with green roof - so I might well go for that

..and then add something like this along your white doors.

or,

if perhaps you'd prefer something like blue wings over the white canvas of body colour ..  then this in a matching blue would look great.. perhaps with Mickey's ear (below) being the 2cv's rear wing :)

..or else if that's just too much fun - then here's just a few less usual 2cv Dolly colours..

Great illustrations & choices of colours imo (which might say something for my tastes !?)

Hope that inspires..

Actual action!

Needed to fit a seal to the new stainless steel vent flap. Not done this before, but you just hammer the outer edge to grip the seal. Easy!

Then it's a case of fitting it in place, which 12 tiny 5.5mm nuts. That are very easy to lose.

I've also placed yet another order with ECAS 2CV Parts, including chassis tape. Sadly, Alan was out of stock when we dropped the body onto the chassis, so it'll have to come off again for that to be fitted. Otherwise, it'll be hideously crashy and noisy.

Now wondering what other lightweight stuff I can fit. Wiring loom maybe? Then I can fit the rear lights and number plate, and the back end will look nigh on finished.

Just be aware when you're fitting things like lights and trim if the paint is still soft you run the risk of getting indents in the paint that can collect moisture and undo the work.  Super to see it coming together again, the biggest hurdle is done with now the body is straight and that rust protection is extremely wise.

One thing that does have to be reinstated is Elly's name on the vent.

Yup, I'm having to tread VERY carefully. Vent flap nuts have to be relatively loose though, or you crinkle the seal and find yet another way to let moisture in. Elly's name will return at some point. Rather depends on what route I go down in terms of graphics/art.

I'm away for much of next week (coming up your way hopefully) so that'll give the paint some extra curing time. Garage still smells like a sodding bodyshop at everytime I lift the door at the moment.
