I hope this poor thing turns up with not too much damage.

Thanks, Fred, appreciated!   Junkman I hope you are wrong but that line of enquiry is being very well pursued....Car was immobile and well secured at the time, dont know what else we can do to stop these people...

There is literally one reason someone would steal one of these.
Can someone put it on ovalchat so the honest amoungst that community can look out for it?

I really hope the chap gets it back.

Already done, Red, its gone thru the Farina Forum and should already be on ovalchat and there is a posse looking out at all the usual haunts....This man understandably really wants his car back and there are a great deal of people doing the business tracking it down.   Let's hope....

Fingers crossed he gets it back. I very nearly bought this very car about four years back when it was turning green in a garden in Southend. Didn't buy it in the end because it was a bit tired underneath, didn't run and the bloke wanted too much for it. It does appear to have had a lot of work including a respray since then.

Makes me glad I don't own a Farina anymore, owning one seems to be a bit of a liability now :(

Shared on Facebook and other forums I'm on. I've also messaged Brammy777 as he found that Sun-Tor that got nicked a few months back during one of his spotting trips.

Yeah it would be worth asking around on oval chat for sure.

With a bit of luck all the internet attention it gets will mean the shitbags abandon it somewhere cos it's too hot.
It's happened before.

Thank you all for support/input/help it will be much appreciated....Yes, the aqua green Suntor was a result....You cant leave this stuff lying around any more and what has upset the owner most is the lengths he went to in order to secure the car.   Lots of work done which will be all the more heartbreaking if it ends up getting the windows kicked out....

As a long term solution, compulsory sterilisation might have its merits.

No matter who has stolen it, or whatever their motives were, it will invariably migrate to the oval. It's an absolute dead cert.

Or making racers prove they own their cars before racing.

Yes, well, I suppose on reflection that would probably be more politically acceptable...

Posted

To be fair to the racers, many of these old crocks are dragged out of barns, fields, swamps e.t.c and don't come with any paperwork at all.

Posted

Sorry, not good enough. If you or I drag a car out of a field and want to drive it on the road, we can apply for paperwork, which isn't that hard. If we wanted to race it instead, I'm sure we could still manage to do so.

Unless of course we were thieving cunts.

Posted

That's the point though, they don't go back on the road, they effectively go straight for scrap via the oval.

If it were compulsory to have logbooks for every car raced i'd imagine it would be easy enough to just ring them. The crims will find a way around anything.

I know, let's have a discussion about how all racers are bastards. Because that always ends well....

Exactly, Let's not go there again hey.

Wouldn't of thought it would be raced at a meeting like that.More likely to be saved for the A60 Amble or some other event specifically for older cars.

Posted

Can we cut their bollocks off if they don't own them?

What? Do testicles come with V5 papers now?

Posted

They're not all bastards, and they don't all race rare stuff. They can be a good source of parts, too. I've heard about racers giving parts away to people who need them, and yanking grills off on racedays and giving them to enthusiasts (God, I hate that word)-so they're not all bad.

But there's certainly a pikey bastard scumbag element in the "sport", who give the others a bad name.
