If we are convoying, can we move into various formations, diamond nine and the like on the motorway please.

Posted

I think it's a bit early to start talking about convoy's. Personally I don't know what day/time I'll be leaving or what car I'll be taking.

I may be up for joining a convoy nearer the time as I will be crossing most of the Midlands.

I agree: I'd like to come, but which car will be roadworthy is, at this point, anybody's guess!

Is there a general plan in terms of when peoiple are going to roll up? The mention of it being a 2 nighter make be assume arrive late fri- overnight,  sat - overnight, then pootle back later on sunday?

That's the plan. Friday will be a relaxing affair mainly for those who don't want to travel so far just for one night.

I have requested the Friday-Monday off but as it's my weekend on I'm having to negotiate somewhat... if I appear penniless it's because I've sacked work off anyway.

Are girls allowed, and if so, will someone show me how to use the left-handed screwdriver I just bought off e-bay for a bargainous £29.99?

It really isn't, given da Massiv's past record vis-a-vis organisational skillzorzz...  :)

I'm getting exited now. Hope the weather is good so I can take the Spartan.

Yes.

Bring a bag of sparks, a jar of Lucas loom smoke and a tin of tartan paint, and I'll show you anything you want!

Only if you bring flapjack...

I'm planning to potter over on the Friday afternoon, drink beer and wine until I can no longer pronounce either word, then sleep, wake up, drink coffee until I can focus, then have a look at a crappy old car or two and go home for tea.

Any cider drinkers going? Seeing as I'm coming up from the Westcountry, it seems right I bring some from our local maker. They sell it in 5 litre containers, so I need to know roughly how much to bring with me!!!!

There will be a range of delicious Welsh ciders available at the hotel should you run out. ;)

I love the driving area, I love the cars, I love the company, I love some beer, I love sitting around a camp fire but I am not sleeping in a car park, so I have booked Friday and Saturday nights in the hotel. Not sure which car I will bring yet but see you all there.

Depending on what shite I bring I will be either camping or sleeping in the car.it's all part of the fun.

Just read one of pillocks posts in the giffer trinkets thread and had an idea. We should all lash cb's in for the drive out.

That's a big ten-four. Whatever that means. Talking of drives out, I've been recceing some routes today. Sadly, the mild greenlaning routes have been badly affected by all the rain - some parts were challenging in the Discovery. So, I shall plan a couple of routes on actual roads instead. Aiming for an outing on Saturday morning, then another one in the afternoon. We won't end up being away from site for as many hours as Shitefest '13's OVROAD MONGFEST. At least one route will involve seaside.

I've been meaning to ask - earlier in the thread you said the field wasn't all that big - will it be a case of all parking up in the car park and WALKING to pitch a tent? I'll probably be in the van anyway so can kip wherever.

And do I need to bring some firewood on the trailer? We've been felling a lot recently so have plenty spare!

I should think you can drive to your tent to pitch, but may be better to park off the lawn afterwards. Not many camped at either Shitefest really, and then often only with tiny tents, so I see no probs. Most folk seem to prefer sleeping in a vehicle. Firewood is good! Just hope the weather is dry enough to enjoy a fire...

Just a thought...

I don't really do tents. Has anyone got a canopy I can sleep under?

Have a board for my shite choices:

C4 : if all else fails
Amazon : 3/1 favourite
460 Turbo:  10/1, keen reservist

Mystery American-Japanese cack : 12/1, near-level favourite.

Actually, I went and had another look at the field today. It's plenty big enough! My memory is rubbish. Glad I went there as the Landy Series III 'feature' that's been parked up there for years was about to hurl its side window glass to the ground. I pulled it off (it's just rusted away) and put it safely inside the rusting hulk. Maybe a brave person could sleep in that? It's a short wheelbase, but it does actually have a mattress inside it...
