Shitefest Cymru - 16th-18th May 2014

I would go for Saturday too, people who haven't taken Monday off work are likely to start drifting off on Sunday.

Posted

Yup. There are no plans for Sunday after breakfast as I thought most folk would head off. The Scotoshiters are sticking around for another night though, so might head off for a scenic drive at some point.

On the Saturday, most folk will be departing the hotel at about 5pm for chips and a museum visit. You could grab a passenger ride if you fancied it so you don't have to drive ridiculous miles in one day. Museum entry is free, chips have to be paid for.

Due to a professional engagement for Musical Offspring which involves yours truly carting timpani around the county, I can no longer make it to ShiteFest Cymru.  Bumhats, etc.

Have a top time, chaps.

Virtual thumb stuck out in brum with shitefest written in biro on a piece of cardboard held underneath.

If no-one can pick you up, I'm sure someone can collect from Aber station - maybe even me. Direct train from Brum is possible and surprisingly cheap. In fact, everyone should leave their cars in Brum and come on the train instead.

I've done that before, two and a half hours of my life to Machynlleth on a smelly Class 158. Good place to go biking, mind.

Also - #totes just #liked your #facebookpage!

Sorry, Andy :-(

I think toilet costs can be covered if folk pay £1 per day. Exciting news I know. Staying one night counts as two days.

I should mention that the hotel is quite hard to identify, as there's one large sign, covered in ivy, with really small text. It's the only hotel in the village though, just over the famous bridge from most destinations. If you've come over the mountain road, there's a car park before you get to the hotel. I'll try and signpost this.

Pound a day is cool with me. I'm sure I'll get my monies worth .😃

Do you still want that starter dw ?

Dad is all exited about coming up. I took his mk1 out the other day and it drives spot on.

Posted

I shall pass on the starter, thanks. Cashflow problematic this month. Maybe I should charge more shitbox tax... ;)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who really appreciates the amount of time and effort you're putting in to this, should be a good weekend!

Strangely enough, I've just this minute come back from RSPB Machynlleth (not me twitching - I was just driving the coach). Forgot that it's quite a lovely bit of the world over there. I'll look into Abb train prices.

Go on then twosmoke. Ta.

Train comes in via Machynlleth as it happens. Right past the Dyfi Osprey Project.

Andy I can give you a lift for Shitefest, no problem.

Sounds like a plan. Do I need spanners?

You may do, I was planning on doing a proper check over of the Kia next weekend.

It has Mot, Insurance, Tax, oil and water. beyond that it could be a death trap.

That's all the boxes ticked. What could possibly go wrong?

Hey DW, just seen a grotty yellow Dyane van (Acadiene?) on the second episode of Hinterland, is it known to you?

Ah well Wales trip number one for me tomorrow . Off to Rhayder for 2 days motorcycle trail riding . Then a short week and back up again.

That sounds like fun,  might be an epic trip on the TS50 ;)

Hopefully there will be some shite cars in a field this time next week! Well, three of mine at least.

Posted

:D We had a good line-up started in the field before anyone else arrived last year.

It was about this time when it all started kicking off with a few* locals in Malhamdale.

Is everything coming together nicely for you across there Mr. Wobbler, or are you fretting over certain aspects of it?

Posted

I cannot match the initial line-up at Malhamfest. It was incredible! Was like a ghost meeting. Far more cars than people...

I'm not fretting too much, other than the amount of time it'll take to feed everyone on Saturday night. Looks like we'll be about 20 people - hopefully no more than 5 or 6 cars. It's a traditional chippy, so there will be a queue. I'm sure we'll get there though.

Locals have been warned. I'm not going to go crazy with signs though. I've described how to find the place and its a tiny village, so should be easy to find.

ONE IMPORTANT THING. Due to the wonderful oddness of Wales, the hotel is pronounced Have-odd Hotel. Which is fitted as we all have-odd cars. It isn't pronounce haffod.
