MG 3: Good Car or Chinese Tosh?

Recommended Posts

im sure you know that MG is owned by the Chinese. the MG 6 hasn't been the success that MG and I hoped for, so they are apparently gunna launch this in the UK later this year. when i first saw it, i though it looked quite nice. but on later inspection i dont think so. post-17281-0-77077900-1378073247_thumb.jpg

Looks like a Hyundry, which might not be a bad thing. Looked the fact the photographer has unwittingly captured himself though. Retard.

Regardless whether it's Chinese or fuggin Kasachstanian, it's newfangled, which makes it tosh by default.

However, the decals are half as bleedin daft as the screaming chicken here:

Which nicely brings me to the idea that we could start a shite factory decals thread.

Looks like a Kia. And the Union Jack is a (quite offensive) joke.

if you want a joke, go on the MG website and see for your self what other decals are available. this aint the worst

Fucking hell. They're the same designs as some of the mobile phone covers from China that make up 90% of ebay.

Anyway the car will probably be overpriced like the MG6.
Are they on sale yet or what?

I think it's quite nice. But will they be any good?

well being Chinese, it will be made from materials that even lada and tata look down on. but to be honest i think it would be quite fun to drive.

I think it looks OK! At least the interior hasn't got that horrible chrome tapered bit in the centre console that every car has now. I'm guessing everyone will hate it before it's even released!

I can't imagine it being anything other than atrocious.

It might sell if it's pitched against the base model Dacias at £5-6k but knowing the price structure for the MG6 it'll probably be way over what anyone is willing to pay.

I've seen more Lamborghinis on the road than I have MG6s.

i kind of agree with you. apart from the horrid decals it looks fine. and as you said its interior is good, i think its just the fact that its Chinese that really puts a downer on it, im sure if it was still a British company, we would be seeing alot more MG 6s around

What's the seat covers like? Anywhere nearly as hideous as the ones in Northwest Trains?

apparently the seat covers are the same as the decal you choose. so it could have loads of faces all over it or that other one

I'm no expert in new car VED but £125 for a shopping trolley seems a lot.

Looks like my mk2 Punto from behind but it probably drives worse.

It looks ok, its sort of Punto meets Golf.  I think another problem is that the general public are not aware that MG is still going.  Rover only relaunched the brand (in a big way) towards the end of their life so for many people an MG is a classic car that died out in the early 80's.

I like the MG 6 its a nice looker (for a modern).

It will be a rousing success then. The world has been longing for a Punto/Golf mix for too long.

Germans, Italians, and all the rest, will queue at each branch of the extensive dealership network to sign up for the new - what did you say the make is?

friend has a mg6 and its been ban to stealers and broken more than my 14 year old ford
