Datsun Back

I just did a bit of sick in my mouth at the style of their advertising campaign. It seems that their new range is going to be aimed squarely at pretentious cunts.

I suppose Renault has done so well after resurrecting Dacia, that Nissan felt they should do something similar ?

I'll only buy one if they relaunch the Cedric.

car aimed at "Young Risers in high-growth markets who are ahead of the curve" sounds like a right load of pretentious corporate bullshit-speak, like "getting your ducks in a row" or "thinking outside the box".

That logo is terrible. It's like the sample file that came with the trial copy of 3D LOGO MAX 98 you found taped to the front of Computer Shopper.

They would have to stop making the Cedric to be able to relaunch it. I saw a very new one a couple of days ago.

If they really do decide to build cars again (which I very much doubt) then I'd like a 120Y, please.

Oh no - are we destined to become a mainstream website? Oreven worse - a mainstream BBC automotive entertainment show?

"Tonight, on Chod Gear: Negative Creep drives a Dacia Denem to Siberia and back on 10 bar of hydrogen... Cavette pilots a white Peugeot 306 1.6 Style up the drag strip with the very last gallon of fuel on earth, and Barrett swaps his brown corduroys for another identical pair of brown corduroys."

Well that really does take the Cherry.

It'll be a Sunny day in hell before I buy a Modern Datsun.

Ahem

To be fair I think you'd need to move very much abroad to buy one anyway as I don't think they are coming here (or even to Western Europe).

I thought they were mainly intended for the India / China / similar markets.

Right, we've had Dacia and Datsun. Come on then, where's Talbot? I want a new Horizon.... ahem.

Given the price is in Indian Rupees, I don't think you'll be seeing many of them down the McDonalds drive-thru.

Not really seeing the issue though, we've all fallen over ourselves for a relaunched Dacia which is a budget Renault, why not a relaunched name attached to a budget Nissan?

I don't see the problem with the Datsun tbh. Its pig ugly but I dare say its cheap and it'll work ok for what it is.

There was a rumour that having seen the success Renault has had with Dacia that PSA was interested in their own budget range which would be badged Talbot. Don't know if it had any fact behind it but I suppose you never know...

I thought that we all got very excited about a re-launched Talbot before finding out that it would in fact be a re-launched Simca. Then they went 'sod it' and spent the re-launching budget on Hobnobs and prozzies.

There's a lot of blurb about "risers", is this a mistake on the part of  the marketting department...............?

" If we re-introduce small Datsuns we will be popular amongst the "ricers"............... :-?

I'll get me coat......................

Yes, but that would be a NISSAN

Particularly frustrating when they could instead have resurrected any one of these fine predecessors...
