Speaking of purchase tax; It wasn't applied to van conversions (that is to say adding extra seats and windows) as long as the van was over six months old when converted.

And 12 months for estate conversions.

Hence most Rover P6 Estouras were converted when the base car was over 12 months old. Since the conversion of used cars doesn't show on the coachbuilders' records (a joint effort of H.R. Owen, Crayford Engineering, and bodywork executed by FLM Panelcraft), it is unknown how many Estouras were actually made.

That's also the reason why only between 160 and 170 were produced according to the records, but about 180 being registered in the Rover P6 Club database today.

The blue prints for the Horsey Horseless TDi were purchased by Audi and Horsey were never allowed to build the car. Thus accelerating their demise.

Standard RHD Morris marinas have a LHD windscreen wiper set up. and vice versa.

Some early Beetles had a convex dimple on the roof above the windscreen to facilitate the mounting of a radio aerial base.

Magnesium suspension arms were tried on a prototype 2cv in the strive for reduced weight, and hollow bolts were also considered for the same reason.

The mark two Ford Cortina for export had the 1098cc engine fitted as used in the mk1 Escort 1100.

For a brief period, demand for the Mk2 Golf exceeded UK supply so a few hundred were imported from Germany in LHD format, converted to RHD format by VW and sold to the UK market to meet the demand.  However, VW in their wisdom did not change the wiper motors so the wipers sweep LHD fashion which is the only giveaway to this shatfact.

Not strictly correct, I recall a Mother and son having a pair of early ones, both B platers I reckon, and one was one way, one the other. This was Nottingham, late 1980s, and I spent my life pissed or stoned, but I am an anorak.....

She has only got one now. She got her first one as a gift for her 20th birthday by her father, who owns the Ogle GTS/Triplex safety glass  prototype.

She then had a succession of seven more, the last one being Middlebridge Scimitar No.5. She drove it to the 20th anniversary rally of the start of the Middlebridge production in 2009. She also attended a meeting of the Dutch Scimitar Club in 2007 in Haarlem.

That's what I thought too. I can't recall ever seeing one earlier than an E with rhd wipers. Seem to recall Mr Woollard kicked off about the LHD wipers on yer old Top gear.

The front indicators/sidelights on a Maserati Biturbo were originally Fiat 127 parts

Not quite - they're visually similar but have different inserts.

But the Biturbo Spyder 24v starter motor is the same as the one used in Peugeot 405s (albeit with a different flange). And I don't mean 'flange' in the sense of a pent-up 405 owner from South Wales with a white 405 1.6 petrol with a dented boot & broken handbrake with 20p stuck in it.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same when I compiled the list.
