Best thread evah etc etc.

Thanks to you, I have abandoned all thought of an X1/9 and am now shopping for a beige Lada and a 60's-era Soviet block of flats

There seems to be a few of those 4x4 Tercels knocking about. I reckon you could do worse than seeking out a less-than-completely-rotten example for your trip here, they're making good coin now due to their sudden rarity.

A very sound idea Joe. I had a look on the most popular website over here and there were only two Tercels, both currently way out of budget but perhaps not in the near future.

No.1 - £330ish. Appalling and appealing in equal measure but looks unlikely to survive the/any journey.

No.2 - £500ish. Entirely not a 4x4 but quite sweet looking.

Anyway, in other news I managed to get a look at the Skoda I nearly bought with a friend the other week. The owner, who reneged on the price, brought it round to me to help him get the bonnet open after the cable snapped. Much branch twiddling later, it was opened. I got a reward.

It's a shame he didn't let us buy this in the end. It's beautiful.

My reward for helping was 'a bag of tobacco'.

I expected a small pouch.

I got this.

It's a good job I wasn't planning to give up smoking soon.

It was apparently liberated from a nearby tobacco factory.

In other other news, i seemed to have acquired a new Lady_Bucket. She is Finnish and very lovely but the reason I'm bringing this up is that it relates to a post a few weeks ago about my dream house in town with a balcony above the main highway to watch all the Bulgochod trundle by.

Here.

DSCN6459.jpg

Well, it turns out her house is directly above the highway, a few rows back with a great balcony and view of the main road. I've already converted her to the joys* of shite spotting.

This is our spotting view. Check out the traditional Finnish woolen socks in 30C heat. HARDCORE SPOTTERZ.

DSCN6768.jpg

And a panaromic shot looking out from her balcony. I think she may be a keeper.

PhotafPanoramaPicHD.jpg

There are also other spotting opportunities from the balcony.

Needs moar teeth.

DSCN6764.jpg

Horribly spoilered Golf Mk2.

DSCN6769.jpg

Which looked even worse in person.

DSCN6779.jpg

A double spot from the last booze run.

DSCN6778.jpg

And no news yet on any notes left on abandonded cars. Hopefully some activity soon.

With those hairy legs she MUST be Scandinavian!

Excellent updates, as usual.

Keep an eye open for another (or that superbly Pogweaseled one) Skoda Rapid Coupe, they're going for huge money nowadays.

I'm a fuckin' convert to the Bucket way of life, that's all there is to say.

Ropey motors, baccy by the hundred weight and a Nordic boiler.

Top stuff there, you really have landed on your amply besocked feet in all respects. I always enjoy your updates.

SIRION! Er, sorry. So, is the new lady bucket coming to Shitefest? Now that'd be a good indicator of whether she's a keeper or not. Mrs DW is threatening to attend this year.

I definitely will. It's a real shame we couldn't buy the red one in the end. We agreed a price (200 Leva/£80) with a drunk guy at the world's smallest Bad Manners gig at a local bar. He changed his mind after talking to his dad, whose car it was, and being told that was too cheap. Which it was.

This is the only picture I have from that evening. I'm standing on the back wall of the bar. It's a very small bar.

It's not all Easy Street.

This was me, busy 'working' yesterday.

And this is now. It's a hard life.

I'm planning to ask her but I'm uncertain when.

On that note, does anyone know when the 'right' time is in a new relationship to ask if they want to spend a wet weekend in muddy Welsh fields with a bunch of internet wierdos looking at each other's rubbish cars and eating square food?

The new Lady_Bucket is a trained massuer masseuse masseurer massage person and has been banging on about my posture recently. I'm trying to walk more upright now and this has had some unexpected benefits. I've been seeing things I had previously missed before whilst shuffling about like a hunchback. I've been down this street a hundred times before but had never spotted the hidden Skoda showroom before . . . . . . . .

I find the best time for asking this and similar questions is when she's just dropping off to sleep. Most questions will elicit a "Mmmmmm" in response, which should always be taken to mean a firm yes.

Yesterday I was having a beer with a tractor photographer friend and he mentioned that a guy he'd met who works at a nearby village train station had a Trabant for sale.

Cheap.

Last night whilst having a drink on Lady_Bucket's balcony, a plan hatched. We'd been talking about the film Stand By Me just the other day, and sat there looking down at the train track and tunnel we decided the most pleasant route to the village train station would be along the train tracks. And almost no chance of getting lost.

DSCN6762.jpg

I really don't like Trabants but it could serve a purpose in getting me to Wales next month and maybe even returning a bit of a profit, so we're setting off momentarily to go and view and possibly buy it.

Due to an upgrade in my technology capabilities, I will endeavour to fire out some live-ish updates if anything interesting happens or is spotted en-route (or if I get hit by a train or other comedy mishapz) before what will hopefully be a hot and heavy Trabant pay-off.

I have literally no idea what that even means JM. Soz.

In continued live news, ConcreteZone has been successfully passed.

DSCN6822.jpg

And Train Near Miss Bonus upgrade has just been unlocked. They're quite stealthy.

DSCN6825.jpg

It's getting very warm now. I hope the aircon is gassed up on the Trabant.

Sneaky little train bastards. Every time I turn round there's another one ready to pounce.

Arrived at the train station. No sign of a Trabant or any human life as yet, just these guys.

DSCN6839.jpg

I'm going to explore the vicinity.

I have serious love for the shape of the W116. Beautiful things.

Is that a repair on the back there or just a discarded bin bag?

Either way, purchase immediately and drive to Wales as is.
