I had my first experience passengering a trials outfit on the road. 30 seconds instruction then off down to the practise area probably hitting 35mph max.

Utterly friggin terrifying.

Anybody selling one?

My brother had a WASP motocross outfit that he fitted a GS750 engine into. He got it registered for the road (so easy in the late 80's) which looked and sounded fantastic.

Can you imagine the bottle it takes to throw one if the classic outfits fitted with a 750/ 850 Norton lump into the air over a tabletop?

He also had a CB200 with a small platform attached to that shook like a dog drying it's self at anything over 5mph. Terrifying.

The Wasp I used had an engine based on an XS650 but taken out (allegedly and somewhat improbably) to 920cc. All I know it it was very grunty and vibrated like a badly-positioned washing machine. Terrifying.

Why does reading things like that make me want to try a proper outfit?

I really want a 2wd Ural as a 'winter car' at some point.

Top of my other half's wish list: 'proper' Urinal with the 2wd and reverse gear. And knowing her, a machine gun.

Maybe just me, but I reckon the chair's had a bit of a comeback the last few years. There's an old giffer round here with what I think is a Yam XS11 with a chair bolted to it. He's had it for years, and doesn't hang around.

Not sure you can register a right-hand chair in the UK though, at least iirc you didn't use to be able to.

The drive from the gearbox comes out of the right side of the gearbox, so UK Ural / Cossack / Dnepr combos are 1wd only, sadly.

EDIT: I just found this on the Internet, so it's definitely* true: "Any bike registered before 1981 can have the sidecar on either side and be legally classed as a motorcycle and sidecar. Any bike registered after 1981 must have the sidecar on the left of the bike"

Those and the TWs look like they could be fun. I've never seen an original 70s RV125 though.

Saw a couple of these (16 & 17 plate resp.) the other day ridden by a pair of old-timers, and yes, that style of bike looks like fun.

The original 1970's RV125 (aka 'Sand-bike') are wonderfully crazy & cool looking things but apparently their handling above about 30mph is pretty dangerous thanks to those big balloon tyres (for sand use hence the 'Sand-bike' title). Seen them at bike shows, it's easy to want one though!

If it's new, then it's no good anyway. I'd rather have an old one.

I are also selling a CG125 - due to a rather large bill that I need to clear sadly.

The one I bought from Jonathan_Dyane the other week - lovely, nearlry 12 months MOT and for a shitter I want the £600 I paid for it - elsewhere Im advertising it for £700 to try and recoup the delivery cost.

2 questions

1) Where are you?

2) How do I get it from you, to me in Berkshire?

Train to Preston, Ill meet you at the station & you ride it home

bub2006 delivery service, or Shiply.

I would expect Shiply to be around £100 or not much more - I've had quotes around this to shift a bike from the SE to me just over on the correct side of the Pennines from UW.

THAT!

I collected my first 125 in the dark, 30 miles from home at night in a storm. That was fun as it was my first ride on the road on my own.

220miles should be about a long day, easy enough to do & a great way to start biking.

I collected my one and only brand new bike ever (a KMX 125) from a Kawa dealer 110 miles away, and had to ride it home at max. 30 mph since it needed to be run in.

This equates to doing 220 miles at approx. 60 mph, so you have no excuse :-)

I had to check too, but from past experience I didn't bother with Urban Dictionary since it's flooded with seppo teen slang.

A jibber is Co. Cork slang for a coward, apparently. And possibly some other places too.

Jibber - to jib out of something . No handjobs involved that I know of

You will squeeze a 125 into a Berlingo size van no probs.

Dunno about the south but I think I only paid £25 for 24 hours the last time I hired a smol van.

Quick Googlage suggests you can hire a medium van from Budget on a weekday for about £30.

A mate of mine managed to squeeze the Honda CJ250 I gave him into the back of a smoll car-derived van, so a 125 should fit in easily.

G'wan ride it back! I can see what I'm up to an whizz you up there on the back of mine.

My annual French bike hunt isn't going so well this year as so far this is the only thing I have been able to do a deal on.

At least it is cheap and will fit in the caravan to bring it home. I just need to find a couple more and it might pay for my trip.
