What exactly is twitter?

It rivals Pistonheads in being one of the finest collection of minds in the world.

People use the word "trending" a lot, not knowing that "trend" is a noun and not a verb.

That's a serious question btw. I've heard of it of course, but don't have a clue what it is apart from self important jamrags spouting stuff for public consumption - is that about the long and short of it?

Yes, in fact they would probably endorse that as their slogan. Think of it like text messaging - except your text message is sent to anyone who chooses to receive it. You hear about Twitter a lot because:

  • [*:1cmfyzr3]A lot of famous people and politicians use it to say things they haven't thought through[*:1cmfyzr3]Most of today's journalism is based around copy and pasting their Tweets into newspapers.

Twitter is like going out into your back gardens and shouting a load of random bollocks. Most people don't hear you but the one's that do either don't care or think you're mental .

Every time I hear the word Twitter makes me think of this:

Or Twatter of course, but that's too easy.

I did a shamelessly quick Google search and found out that Denis might have had a red XK150, bought on the back of his success becoming a millionaire working at a paint and glue factory*. That's all I could find.

Oh, and shamed former Independent journalist Sean O'Grady thought he saw him driving a banged up Silver Spirit:

May not strictly be accurate.

What exactly is twitter?

It is a short message system (a bit like text messages but operating via the internet) which allows people with an over inflated idea of their own importance to talk shite in public whilst stroking their egos. In other words, pointless crap which wastes internet bandwidth

In the 1986 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games ..a huge amount of countries boycotted it becos of Maggies support for apartheid Sth Africa...she also refused to foot the bill for the disastrous games which left Edinburgh City Council with a 10s of millions of squid bill...and she had the audacity to come and open the Games...by the time her Daimler got from one end of Princes Street to the other it looked more like a painted -uncooked sponge cake with the amount of eggs-flour and paint thrown at it..

When she came back for the last time to open the Torness nuke station in 1989...we went to greet her..as her motorcade sped past..a woman demonstrator jumped into the path of the first Rover cop car..slamming on its brakes...and the 2nd one following it smashed into the back of it!Ive got a photo of one the cops sweeping the tail-lights off the road with his foot.

I urge everyone to watch the funeral next week, to see what you're paying for.

We can afford it though, can't we?

Now we've had the "grin", "grumpy" and this thread all taken over by the fascinating "are you or are you not glad Thatcher is dead" debate, I wonder whether we can find a way of crowbarring it into any of the others. Can't get enough of it.

yes..let her rest..stop dragging her out of the grave..like we did with this P5...eventually this was bangered around the track after we developed poverty and dementia...similar to Maggies memory...the final bash and then laid to rest.

Yes of course we can I'm sure the nhs can do without some important equipment for the next year or two.

Remember we are all in this together
