This Mazda van has been knocking around my local area for years, getting increasingly less roadworthy.  The driver looks elderly and not entirely on top of things and the rear window recently became an ill-fitting tarpaulin,  I finally got to snap it tonight, albeit in a dark, damp Sainsburys carpark.  Note the excellent parking skills, top-quality bodywork repairs using most of an entire roll of gaffer tape and the roof, which is barely attached.  How this gets through MOTs, I have no idea.

Its days must be numbered, I doubt it's maintained very well mechanically given the state of the bodywork and the state of the interior doesn't really bear thinking about,  Seeing it always brightens my day a little though, so long may it soldier on.

Edit: perhaps unsurprisingly, its last MOT ran out in October, as did the tax.  Oopsie.

I've just seen this again, actually on the move leaving the same car park.  Seeing the owner walk back to it makes me think he's not entirely on top of things any more, the van looks no better of course but I was surprised to hear that the engine sounded quite healthy, certainly as good as a 200k+ petrol van engine from 1993 has any right to sound.  Had I thought about it in time, I realise I should have rushed over to him before he drove off  so I could perform a quick on-the-spot shiter's interview to answer some burning questions we'd all like answered, like 'just how draughty is it in there', 'why did you tape a groundsheet over the back window instead of any number of other potential items' and most importantly 'can I have a go in it?'

There is something very special in the statement made by old Bentleys and Rollers. Will these brands be able to retain exclusivity when there are lots of skanky ones smoking about?

This was in Tescos near Southall, I'd have loved it if a Citizen Kahn clone was the owner, more likely a hipster.

Hopefully this isn't nicked, saw it at 08.00 am on Friday, so probably not going to a show.

Was it your goodself that spotted a Sigma estate parked up in South London on a plot a couple or few years ago or do you know who did . I would like to try and find it

with view to saving it whole or parts

Very few old cars about in London these days - restricted residents parking, zealous councils and clampers have done for most.

Suburbs are indeed better, as lesapandre says. To be honest, you could go anywhere in Zone 3 and above and its still decent, even for 90s dross which seems to be dead elsewhere.

There used to be a few Sigmas local but not seen one for ages.

Zone 3 , I'm a country boy , wheres zat then !

The original poster of the Sigma was very active and I think he was into bikes and I'm sure he said it was Beckenham or Bromley way but I could be totally wrong and it could be north of the river ....

This is local - moves occasionally. I see someone has driven into it now tho.

I've never seen this 220CE move in the six years I've been working in Ealing. It just sits there day after day. To my surprise, the thing has current MoT and VED - the sum total of its mileage in the last year seems to have been to get to the MoT test centre and back....

Some chod spotted on a recent trip to Portugal.

First, a trio of rammel in varying conditions from Fundao. I noted that smoller Rovers from the last decade of ARG must have sold REALLY well there, as there are plenty still about.51368745e6756cf68e9b4b8ffbadd9c1.jpg

Now, what to show you next?

Hmm, I think it's PSA time...

Sorry for the dismal lack of camera talent with the 405 and 205, a few Sagres made me forget that my phone needs to be VERY still when shooting after dark. I was not however, drunk. Oh, no.

Encouragingly, 405s were spotted several times during my travels there, and most of them obviously in safe hands.fd76db6ec4d62e877e36182c65a79599.jpg55f54cb2bbaee5f22c73b36139b58234.jpg41e8184eacb9c862bb656822777af668.jpg2af358d8530b96a3e6506657c90e1e7e.jpg

Taking it up a size, 80s mercs are still doing sterling work and have not all yet been shipped further south. Also, I found the colour scheme of some taxis in Beira Baixa to be quite pleasing...aa19d23bede65bbf351ac526be2388c9.jpgf160b1b03eb4305530ad6f398e6dcdc2.jpg

For a proper blast from the past, a brace of R4s... and not ones rotting in a field either... unlike this charming Bedford. Though to be fair, some of my roadworthy stuff has more visible rust than this is showing...32a8c36307e30d0c27702abae27553ec.jpg7bc6d9e8ddb4282de151c73bcaf5f728.jpg12205162d045a8c2956e301fc5928f95.jpg

Right, here's the last from the phone camera. I missed a mk3 tina in the same colour scheme though as I wasn't driving and felt too self conscious to ask the cabby to stop...

Mrs CW is under no illusions as to the seriousness of my condition, so this scrote could be snapped...

Reports of the extinction of the transcat are wildly exaggerated. I saw three but could only snap one...a17a2f537ba090ca4c514b662ef0e9a3.jpgc3f9873870c708e17afd743730467f9d.jpg
