pshome Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Just back from another round of Tagora fishing... and what a catch we got this time! 83 SX, one owner from new, V6, 166 HP, just 70K km on the counter. Serviced and TÜV by the same Peugeot dealer every two years for the last 30 years.Interior like new, still on the first exhaust and orignal set of TRX tyres! Scratch on the door that got rust, otherwise no rust, none, nada, nil, zero, nilch, nothing. Still speechless... i let the pictures speak: pshome 1
In The Pit Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 A lovely example the interior looks so comfortable. What country did you get it from do you live in that country or is it heading back to the UK? For some people Autoshite is the Talbot Tagora yet for others the Talbot Tagora is Autoshite.

garethj Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I think I love you. That is an epic car, you should be very proud!
tagoraman83 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Christ on a bike! Why is my SX not that good. The ongoing saga with my SX makes me very jealous. Roof issues not resolved but paint is acquired and the front is ready for paint. After spending many hours attemping to align the wings and bonnet and deciding Talbot build quality was extra shite I found the front panel had been welded off to one side and too high by the last restorer. The front panel has now been cut off and re-welded to an accuracy Talbot would have been dumbfounded by. I am resolved to the fact that I will have to buy a parts car from abroad to cut the roof skin off so am in the stages of planning that little jaunt, ever wish you had not started something...... Will be fabulous when finished though.
pandarus Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Simply stunning. Well done chap, congrats! Feels good when you land a beauty like that I bet
mk1_4dr Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 That open airbox picture is the mechanical money shot. You win, congratulations.
Split_Pin Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 STRIKE MON FLAMING RONE!! Does the Tagora come with 2 triple Webers or 2 doubles. Either way, well done that man - beautiful!
Spiny Norman Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I love the look of the velour interior in these, I could fondle those seats all day.
pshome Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Had it on the hoist this week and checked everything out. The clutch is more than dead, seems the old lady used nothing but her left foot to tame all the wild horses from under the hood. The disc is totally gone and both the flywheel and the pressure plate make Saturn jealous for all those rings. Lucky to have an old 604 SL engine sitting in the Garage. Already replaced the flywheel. Found a new disc and release bearings, searching for a pressure plate now. Otherwise, nothing evil found, all well maintained and working properly. Undercarriage looks perfect, bushes, bearings etc.. all in like new condition. The Interior is absolutely stunning. We have two other Tagoras and the cheap brittle plastics on these just dissolves, surfaces get brownish and bits and pieces seem to brake away when you only look at them. Not so on this one, its like new. Even the Michelin TRX (dot 344 and no triangle) look good with ample profile left and no visible damage but we need to replace them. Of course we have to test top speed and 0 to 100 performance on the Autobahn, but even though i am getting older, not up for suicide yet. New TRX cost more than a fortune, so for now 14" from a 504 will do for driving, may put the old TRX alloys for showing up on meetings. The car must have been in a time capsule, extraterrestrials were involved in this there is no other explanation. They have only auto boxes on Mars, don't they? That explains the clutch! Cheers Peter pshome 1
pshome Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Does the Tagora come with 2 triple Webers or 2 doubles. Either way, well done that man - beautiful! pair of triple Weber 40IDA-3C as in the Miura, 911 or Ferrari 365.What's sauce for the goose... pshome 1
CreepingJesus Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 That open airbox picture is the mechanical money shot. +1...love the elegant solution of wrapping the air filter round 6 trumpets. Beautiful.
jonny69 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I wasn't going to reply and suck your balls any more as this lot seem to have done a decent job so far But those Webers are something else and that video sounds glorious
warren t claim Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Webers indeed! Is it just me that's downloaded and saved that vid?
Spiny Norman Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Holy fuck, do these things really sound like that? I thought I was watching a slightly shiter version of 'Rendezvous'.
tagoraman83 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Having driven my Tagora SX back from darn saurf to sunny Manchester and not hanging about I can confirm the 2 triple choke webers do sound like that vid,if more people had test-driven them back in the day and felt the noise they may have been more of a demand and they would have made more than the 1000 they ended up making. 80's rendezvous.......
