E60 V8 BMW Touring FOR SALE

Anyone got any info on these? Been offered the family E60 545 V8 estate, Long MOT and 193,000 on the clock.

It's had a replacement gearbox and waterpump, always serviced according to BMW requirements and the only current fault is a knackered compressor for the rear self levelling shockers.

What's a fair price to pay and what other common problems are there?

With that mileage I would'nt imagine there would be any engine issues, I think some of them were like Jags in that the coating on the cylinder walls eroded, necessitating a new engine. With that mileage I think it has gone past the time to worry.

Not sure about price, a big engined car of that vintage is probably only worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it.

Buy and enjoy carrying big, heavy loads around exceedingly quickly and while making a nice noise. I believe the Nikasil (or Alusil) issue was really only an issue on the earlier M60 cars, but I may have gone stark, staring mad.

If you give me the year I can get you a cap valuation. Do you know if it's an SE or a Sport? There's a big difference in values.

193'000 is a LOT of miles for an N62 V8. They leak oil, have issues with the valetronic motors and actuating cams, can suffer bore glazing and worst of all, the dreaded coolant leak. When you see coolant dripping from a small hole near the water pump, it's time to bend over for the £1000 repair. Well, it's £3000 at BMW (engine out, heads and sump off) but the £1000 repair involves getting an expanding alloy coolant pipe from the US and fitting that. Still a big task.

Nice car, but not something I would consider with that mileage unless it was £1200 which of course it won't be. Tourings also have air suspension on the back, and pump failures are incresingly common.

I think I'd just buy a party size drum of coolant. Or a drip tray.

Right chaps, I think this is the first E60 listed for sale on AS so this is your chance to feel the hand of history on your shoulder.

No way I can hang on to this beauty cos I'll end up destroying it/myself/my licence so it has to go.

Pics to follow and and I'll lob a link up to its advert ASAP.

54 plate BMW 545i SE Touring

BMW owned for the frst 6 months of its life and then one owner until last Tuesday.

Suffice to say, at 330 odd BHP it goes like a scalded cat and it's surprisingly frugal giving me about 26mpg on a run and high teens around the doors. It's tested until November and taxed until May so you can drive it away today. LOADS of service history from BMW and then from Newhall Independent BMW specialists in West Kirby on The Wirral. Showing 193,000 miles with a replacement gearbox she still has plenty of life left in her. Decent set of run flat tyres fitted with plenty of tread left on them (unless I decide to turn the traction control off in the meantime) Full heated leather and built in Sat Nav, cruise and all the toys you'll ever need. Probably the most powerful car you can list on a traders policy without having to upgrade your insurance.

Only issues are a couple of stonechips on the front, a duff rear parking sensor and the self levelling bags on the rear shocks need replacing (£100 each side and a DIY job)

At £3995 it's the cheapest one I can find for sale and there's still the possibility of a decent shiters discount on top.

Christ, your neighbours are hard bastards, they've got the Jolly Green Giant's nuts as porch ornaments.

Wolf in sheeps!!! If it weren't for the E39 540i Touring of my neighbour's I've reserved first refusal on I'd be all over this. Good luck with the sale and enjoy driving it in the mean time

First no-show I've had in a while tonight, at least it gave myself and Minimad5 a chance to give it a run out to Burtonwood Services on the M62 to meet Watanabe, and MM5 is no longer a VEE EIGHT VIRGIN.

An indicated 43 MPG at a steady 68 MPH was pretty impressive as well, I wish my Kia Sportage was as economical.

Really is a nice car, just a shame the asian chap from Leeds didn't turn up. Aah well his loss !

I also lost something - V8 Virginity
