924 went for £780

Shame I missed it, although it didn't have the best interior colour scheme (I tell myself to make me feel better)

That 3-Litre VDP sure looks shite enough to tempt me.

"Recently unearthed and offered for full restoration or spares. Or more likely, a few laps of wimbledon with a rigger booted Moron at the wheel"

Happily a journo chum of mine bought that. He's not really the banger racing type.

I hope that Princess makes good money, it's bloody lovely.

It passes the 10 yard test, but up close you can see it has had a poor respray below the coach lines on both sides

Overspray on the wheel trims and coach lines

My prov on the sd1 went through. Gr9!

Nice one 109! I do like the 2600s - plenty of grunt, sound nice and a bit more frugal than the V8s (though everything is relative...)

The paint job on the Princess was properly shoddy close up. Poor colour matching, runs, blisters and bits of it had been brush painted. Interior was rather nice though.

That's good to hear. To be fair, it did look very restorable - although I didn't have a particularly thorough poke around it.

Hmmm. Pre 1978 manual 2200 Princess - I wonder if it's had the modification to move the engine backwards in the subframe? These used to eat driveshafts, a problem eventually found to be that the engine was too far forward and put too much stress on the inner CV's. On ther Automatics it was okay because the diff was further back on the bulkier BW autobox.

I bet that makes 2 grand or more. Where else can you find one now?

Can any attendees remember what the red Viva HC ran to?

It went unsold (estimate £1500) and is now doing well on the 'bay at £2299 with plenty of days to go

It was Peter Simpson who bought it. Looks like it will be a magazine project car, which is excellent to hear :)

This looks a reasonable buy for £1175, about the maximum I would be prepared to pay for one.

Hey, this went for a mere £575! Bargain as the bottom half has been painted already - just the top half to do!

That 1300 looked rather tender in a number of places, and didn't have much in the way of T&T. It also didn't seem to want to start as it was pushed through the auction. Interior was in very good nick though, complete with those superb folding window winders.

I know the seller, and his paintshop guru.

I have seen what he can do for a crap spray job with a few sheets of 2000 grit wet and dry and a polishing mop.

Dont be supprised if the paintwork on this looks showroom fresh now.

This is not your usual buy it, drive it home, advertise for 3 times the cost operation.

Lots of crap goes through the auctions though;in the previous auction, there was a green Mini Cooper with a union jack on the roof - I saw it and it was a absolute dog, which will no doubt end up in the auction circuit again very soon. What was worrying is it made over £2500 for a rotbox
