New Pug-shaped acquisition

Rather too long since I've had a Peugeot to play with so when I realised that a friend was desperately trying to rid herself of this lovely 306 "Miami", replaced with something newer and far more boring, reaching for the cheque book was too hard to resist.

In many respects, it's a great little car - two lady owners from new (one elderly, one young), with the 1400 engine having done about 60k miles. Manual windows but electric sunroof(!) Lovely to drive and reminds me rather of my old 309 from a few years back (which is a good thing).

Nice interior layout for the driver. A handy second glovebox where you might otherwise find an annoying passenger airbag. I often think it's funny these days how lack of a rev counter seems like a novelty to some people...

The bodywork is far from perfect - it was the last owner's first car after learning to drive, so has plenty of parking (and other) dings. Most serious is on the driver's side, which might make for a nice little project when it gets a bit warmer.

Although maybe I shouldn't spend too long on the bodywork, as my intended use for it is quite similar. I have finally persuaded the non-driving Mrs Wilko to send off for her provisional licence, so the future may herald a few more scrapes.

Bonus dealer sticker, as I know you all love them...

Nice colour, and they are a great looking car;Peugeot done a good job when they styled the 306,which still looks modern, and had a good engine line up. You could of course have bought a white 405 Style with no rev counter and wind down windows :P

You are quite clearly a WINNAH. Leave the dents, they add to the character, that's what I tell myself about my 306 anyhow. Nice colour too, better than the shitty Mingebag Green mine is anyhow. That second glove box is ace for radio fronts, dashboard wipes and four year old chewing gum. Oh, you're very posh having any sunroof, let alone an eleccy one!

I keep meaning to do pictchas of my other halfs 306, a three door N reg XN 1.4 in Bermuda turquoise with zero specification, including a lack of power steering which explains why I've never arm-wrestled her. All 306s are A Good Thing, and the 1.4 seems to be maintenance free.

I'll do a thread on my new Pugshite, too. When I can be arsed, of course. P reg Dturbo, in case anyone cares :D

+1, though, on the fact that 306s are overflowing with win.

306 flavour pugs are hard to fault. we've had an R reg Dturbo for 2 years, only fault in that time was when a drain plug got blocked and flooded (and killed) the wiper motor. 30 minute job to change it. Ours now has matching dents on both front wings from where a horse ran into it.

Excellent. I do like that era of 306 - first facelift. Best they ever looked. Had a DTurbo myself of that age. A thoroughly fine car and one of very few cars that I've done more than 20,000 miles in (managed twice that during my ownership before I finally got bored with it).

Ah, a car from my neck of the woods! I would say the 1.4 petrol is pretty dull though, much the same as the owner's newer replacement. I'm with Dollywobbler on the DTurbo choice, except I'd go for the earlier pre-facelift shape - exactly what I owned a few years back. Seats were nice and low (and firm), suspension felt tight, and it really did feel like a little sports car. Only sold it to buy a Hilux after I almost broke the Pug's rear beam after horrendously overloading it with demolished wall detritus.

A Cornish car judging by the EAF registration. And confirmed by the Truscotts dealer sticker...
