Vauxhall Cavalier For Sale

Hi all.

Looking to change my Cavalier for something newer and smaller as I can't justify driving a family hatch back when it's just me!

It's a 1.6 carb, 82BHP showing 205,000 miles (120,000 really - Old speedo unit was messing about a lot!).

Cambelted Aug' 11, Serviced every 6 months, wad of Vauxhall Service history from the last 18 months of ownership (New rear wheel cylinders, front to rear exhaust, 4 good tyres, new thermostat - Cambelt off job to do!), both front wheel bearings done recently, new radiator etc).

Good as gold, will take you anywhere in the world (providing there's fuel in it!). Alternator belt is quite vocal, yet quite new so may need attention? Generic Cavalier rust on the arches, solid floor and boot floor. Black interior (Not the best, but no where near worst), white exterior with a few dents etc but a good shiter.

MOT and Tax to 1-Feb.

£250 takes it.

It's a pre-facelift in white. If you don't like this you're a one legged, horse fondling mammal molester with bellends for eyeballs and your fingernails smell of Jimmy Savile's knob cheese.

what year is it?

It's a 1991 H-Plate. Ex-Police owned (Was never striped up), owned by my Dad for 10 years and then not used until last year.

I've not got many photos, as I'm at work. I'm sure I've got a thread around here somewhere, it's just like any other pre-facelift Cav... Missing one wheel trim!!!!

NO GSI GRILLE on vehicle now.

Also, new windscreen and tailgate wiper motor.

New Cv Joints (Both)

Clutch is not amazing, but hasn't got any worse over the course of 50k miles!!!!

Cambelted last year

Brand New front bumper inc. in sale

Brand new tow bar inc in sale

Vx Roof Rack on vehicle

No alloys, 14" steels now. (6mm+ of tread, one new, just fitted!).

Got any pictures of the interior at all? I'm sort of hoping it's the cloth trim with like visible stitches all over them.

It is black cloth, slightly ribbed on a consistant pattern with stitching showing.

No bolster wear, but drivers door card is poorly (Peeling from the window seal - Needs gluing).

To be honest,if thats all you value it at,and its a reliable old bus,you may as well keep it,as you could end up buying something thats not half as good. With the winter coming up,you might want a solid old bus like that to tackle and slippery roads we might have.

I really need something smaller though. Don't get me wrong, it'll do 40mpg (I managed 49mpg when I was running on a space saver last week!) and it's not dear to service, I really want a 206 or something that falls into the lower tax bracket and insurance level.

It's not expensive to run, and it did well last winter when we had 9-10" of snow, it's being used as a mile muncher and it's just a bit too nice for that in all fairness!

I'd keep it if I was you. You won't get much if any better mpg out of a 206 and the insurance savings might well be lost by increased maintenance once you get into mot time with bloody sensors etc. There's not much cheaper to keep on the road than an old 8 valve cavalier. You'll regret it!

That is the one - I had them in my first Astra. Was great until I spilt gravy all over the passenger seat. :(

For sale again.

£200 takes it from Ely in Cambridgeshire.

Test up on Feb' 2nd.

Tax up Jan 31st

Known MOT issues;

Rear brakes not performing (New cylinders, so shoes probably)

Small credit card patch needed on rear of OS sill

Same sized patch required on OS Inner arch

Still running well, good to run around in for a fortnight and weigh in/break/repair/etc etc...

Whats the worst that could happen?

Well, it's losing water and oil, but no oil in the water or vice versa. Flushed the cooling system out and refilled with water/AF and all seems well.

Now with new;

Dist cap

Leads

Plugs

Air Filter

Rotor Arm

And there's an oil filter to go with it for the next change, some (Wrong size for car) front discs, pads, rear shoes.

£120 of wheel trims on car too to smarten it up. All tyres legal and in good order, 4mm on OSF, NSF, NSR and 6mm on OSR. Brand new spare, unused from eBay.

Please, someone take her on. She's nothing special but she will take you anywhere. I just can't afford to stump up for 2 patches of welding and the rear brakes right now.

Oh, the clutch, still no worse. Bites really high and has high pedal, but been the same for two years now (45k miles).

Don't think it's OMGHGF but I'm no mechanic and can't rule it out.

Thanks.

Ben.

I hope someone can take this on. My problem is the same as with the Volvo Estate is i'm at the other end of the country. That looks a clean and tidy motor and as seems the case with a lot of 80's and 90's stuff nobody is saving them...............we will regret it once they are all gone. I'm gonna keep my eye on this one as i would love to see it go to a good home.

I'd effing love that but money (or the complete lack of it) knackers me up. Have you got it for sale on the Mk3 Cavalier forum? Should easily find a home on there.

I don't like Cavaliers. And if anyone doesn't like that I WILL FIGHT YOU ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET

I can't get on Cavmk3oc at the moment due to it being blocked on the works computer (Yet, Autoshite and every other forum works fine!?)

Price is very negotiable depending on speed of collection. A good home is worth more than making a feeble attempt at reclaiming the £1500 I've spent on it in the last 20 months... It's a true worker and I hope someone can make use of it. It won't get "Bridged" as such, my local scrap man will take it in for good money and break it, ebay the good bits and banger race the rest.

It's not a "MINTER". It no longer has the alloys, but a set of Corsa C "ECO" trims on it (Reduces the drag, you know!) and the GSi grille has gone too. So, it's nearly stock, all bar some random switches which in the right market could make extra beer tokens (Heated seat switches, TC console, Cruise indicator stalk etc etc).

As said, it wont get squashed. It'll get recycled. But with a fortnights T&T left, I hope it can get someone out of a hole!

Come on Cavette, you know it makes sense.....

I'd love it but not really in a position to take it on just yet.

You see now this is tempting.

I like it.

It is so close I could walk to collect it, and could probably find the cash.

BUT I really, really dont need another car project at the moment.

Wasn't there someone wanting a cheap car on here for about £200 for his daughter ?
