Now, form an orderly queue as I’m sure there will be massive interest in this...

Reno 25 GTS manual 2.0

Price: £300

Location: South East London

MoT: 7th July 2013

Tax: 31st October 2012

Good points are it's quite good fun to drive for a big old barge, has been reliable in the 2,000 odd miles I’ve done in it, virtually no rust (just a few tiny surface bits) and despite the colour I reckon it cuts rather a dash, especially when viewed from the rear. Interior is in good nick, with that lovely velour interior that made it a show winner at Shitefest 2012! The previous owners have obviously looked after it as it’s been regularly serviced together with evidence of old giffer touch ups here and there. Chris aka skattrd did the hard bit and bought it off ebay unseen and then MoTd it, all I've done is polished it up and used it :)

Not so good are the speedo, odometer, temp, and oil level gauges do not work, with rev counter being OK and fuel one being ‘mostly’ reliable – it sometimes throws a tantrum and tells you there’s fuck all fuel left but then it pops back up again as if to taunt you. PAS has intermittent squeaks on full lock, bit of an oil leak from the rear of the engine, radiator sometimes leaks a tiny amount from the bottom due to corrosion (didn’t stop me driving 800 miles in a week whilst on holiday recently, no topping up required) and the tracking might need doing as there’s a vibration around 60mph so naturally I didn’t get this fixed, I just sit at 65 instead! In case you’re wondering, I use a satnav for the speed but long term you might want to fix it as the lack of dials was starting to piss me off somewhat.

If this were a keeper I’d get all these issues sorted, but try as I might I just don’t find it comfortable which is weird and also very frustrating as it’s a good car overall.

Oh, forgot to mention the rather large dent in the front passenger door. It has been pushed out and touched up so there's no rust.

Not seen that shit before. I guess they were trying to emulate the nescafe couple thing.

Bloody awful.

Also I love how they spend all their time driving pressing buttons.

Amazingly, most seem to do something too! I'm surprised that the synthesized voice didn't churp in halfway through telling them of some none existant fault...

Hey, this car is fuggin' CLASS and anyone who doesn't buy it is an idiot! I honestly can't think of a more luxurious big interesting old pez-hound you could smoke about it for this little cash. Also Rob is a proper sound bloke and I'm sure he'll make you a cuppa or whatever when you go round, and he's definitely not an aspirational yuppie scumbag like you might think after watching those ads...

A colleague of mine had a burgundy one of these a few years back GLS i'm sure. I remember going out for some lunchtime cruzin in it. Very comfy car and very refined. Funny thing is said colleague has a penchant for VW / Audi products & this old smoker was one of the longest living cars on his fleet outliving it's VAG contemporaries by quite a bit & in nowhere the same tinworm stakes as the VAGS. It got passed on as he got bored with it.

This car does look in fantastic condition (apart from the dent, but even that's not particularly bad). And I can vouch for Rob being "a very very nice man".

It's ridiculously cheap, somebody must want it!

Ta for the positive comments chaps :) I can indeed promise a cuppa to the new owner, and also for no extra charge I'll show you around my Montego so you can have a good laugh at how rotten the old crate is. The 25 is the better car in almost every respect (handling, fuel economy, condition etc) but I much prefer the Monty as it goes like stink and is a badermatic - I'm clearly insanse...

Come on, you know you want it SLAGZ.

Yeah, come on you mother funsters, some hot Frenchie action for 300 sovs. Go on, treat yourself :D

I hasten to add that my linky to the smuggoids commercials was no refection on this fine car or its owner, but instead a shuddering memory of Thatchy Britain.

That bloke in the ads truly has a face that you could never tire of slapping.

If you still have it in early October, I may very well be interested :)

mega-cheap price from my part of the world, it would cost about 1200 pounds landed here (300+900shipping) .

I would expect to pay 3x that landed cost for a good R25 here.

It will be a lovely drive for the next owner.

P.S. My boss brought a 2009 Mini Cooper back from UK some months ago, shipping was 800 pounds.

I can almost guarantee it'll be available Shep, as I'd rather sell it rock bottom to one of you lot than deal with Mong Public on this one.

No offence taken on the youtube ad. Far from it, I want to be that man if he gets to live in that house with that bird

I've seen this very car at our monthly ''gathering'' - last month in fact.

I can vouch that its a nice one, pretty good condition aside from a dented door. Owner seems like a decent cove -too.

If I didnt already have a plethora of 25's.....

OK, you get to boff Mrs Posh, but you still have to be a rank knobber. Could you bear it?

Does it have the voice synthesizer and remote locking? I should really know that, but my mental Renault equipment list mostly covers late 90s, early 00s shite.

Bargain, it is a nice big old barge, quite comfy, huge inside as well. I think I did about 1000 miles in it the first week I had it, I'd be happy to drive this anywhere.

Good luck with the sale Rob

R9UKE - no to voice, yes to the remote locking, a flashy infra red one you point at the rear view mirror..

Cheers Chris. I'm pretty confident it'll go anywhere too, I did 800 miles in one week and it gave me no bother (apart from the backache strangely, but that's just me probably!).

No you're right, but the car is a V6 with leather. This one is only a 2 litre GTS, but with award-winning velour. What else has that bloke been in, I'm sure I've seen his smug mug in telly drama or sommat.

^^^He's a cock.

And from IMDb they say about Malcolm Stoddard:

Other Works:

(late 80s) Renault Laguna commercials with Rosalyn Landor.

And I recognise her now as being in CATS Eyes, the 80s LWT cop drama with Jill Gascoine (who I think drove a mk3 dark blue Escrote).

Think JG drove a Sierra Ghia but could well be mistaken,

Didn't Leslie Ash (pre trout powt and suing NHS for millions) drive an Escrote Cabby in that paticular piece of groundbreaking telly??

This was on my watch list when I bought the 240. Was quite tempted to lob a bid on it at the time, but Mrs 240 wanted an estate and didn't want a white car.
